A small restaurant tucked away in a corner, The North Japanese Noodle Bar came to me as a surprising treat. Their lunch specials menu was what intrigued me the most. For only $12.99 you can have a whole meal that includes miso soup, rice, and salad. Honestly where can you find a decent lunch place for under $15? The quality and taste was actually pretty good too. I ordered the Grilled Salmon Lunch Set Meal and it was quite flavourful and the fish was very delicate. The portions size is just enough to have you feeling light and full. Although the restaurant is small, the flavours are big. I would definitely come back again!
Tried this new ramen shop tucked away in the corner of Langham Square near Big Trio and Meet Fresh. They currently have a soft opening deal with 20% off all items until April 30. The space is very limited about 12 table seats + 6 bar seats. You grab a seat, order and pay at the register first and grab your own water. The lady who serves the food is nice, attentive and efficient. We got the Assorted Tempura $10 - 7pcs, Original Shio Pork Ramen $15.5 and Roasted Garlic Ramen $16.5. The broth was pretty good but could use a touch more umami like salt or boiled longer. I really liked all the toppings in my ramen. The egg was perfectly cooked and runny, and there's two cuts of pork: a thick cut pork belly with a nice marinated flavour, and thinly sliced pork tenderloin which was very tender. The portion are definitely generous as it also comes with a small side. We got a fried gyoza and pickled daikon. My only real complaint was that the tempura was a bit greasy and not crispy enough.
My new favourite ramen restuarant in Markham! Their broths are flavourful, the service is good, the price is just about right, and their portions are huge! They give you a couple of torched sushi and marinated cucumbers as a free appetizer - which is greatly appreciated. I've come twice already and each time, the karaage appetizer is a must! I really like their original ramen too - it comes with a lot of toppings, including two slices of chasiu, two pieces of chicken, bamboo shoots, and a whole marinated soft-boiled egg. I've also tried their roasted garlic and it was black to my surprise - a little salty but still very yummy. Their water is also self-serve, so you can get your own water by the front door. 11/10 definitely will come back again!!
Overall, the food was good. We ordered a lunch set and a ramen bowl. The ramen noodles were a bit springy and had a great texture along with the perfectly tender pork toppings. The broth could’ve have been more rich but still flavourful. The sashimi was not fishy at all and the salmon was buttery smooth. Wish there were more pieces of fish instead of the small salad. If each dish were a dollar cheaper it would be well worth the price.
I had a extremely good experience. The food tasted amazing and the customer service was even better. The owner is kind and interactive. The price is really good for the taste and quality.Definitely would recommend to anyone, the largest variety of ramen and sushi I have ever seen. Thank you!
I seldom leave an extensive review, but need to give props to this place. Overall impression: The food was great. The flavors, portion, presentation and price point are great IMO. Good atmosphere and have the option of table seating or noodle bar. Ramen: The original pork shio ramen came with both pork belly, shoulder, egg and other garnish. The flavors are awesome and the broth is not too salty. The kicker for me was the Arugula leaves. It brought balance to the fatty pork belly and cut thru the fat for me. Aburi Salmon: The set lunch came with soup, salad, tempura 6pcs, sushi appetizer 2pcs and main, which is the torched salmon with rice. The miso soup has clam in it to add extra flavor. The tempura was freshly made and the torched salmon was flavorful. I couldn't comment on the sushi appetizer as we couldn't finished the set. Price/ value: Considered the flavor, quality and ingredients, I think you are getting a lot of value for the price. Everyone value things differently, so the best way to know is to try it. Cheers.
Small Restaurant, may expect line up. Order at cashier and pay first. Self server fir water and drink. This style likes typical noodle houses in Japan. Love its Signature Shoyu Ramen. You may feel it is small but actual is good enough. Also it has several lunch specials, tried Chicken Katsu lunch set meal and Aburi Salmon lunch set meal. They are very good. This time we only want to have lught lunch, no chance to try its tapas. Will recommend this restaurant to others.
A unique ramen spot that's tucked away in the corner spot of a very dense plaza. The space itself isn't too large, so don't plan to bring large groups. However, the casual seating and self-serve water station helps to give it a refreshing feeling compared to the more popular ramen restaurants. I had the Signature Shoyu Ramen, which comes with a piece of sushi and some pickled cucumbers, and shared an order of Chicken Karaage with a friend the second piece of sushi belongs to him. The karaage was fried very well as it had a very crisp exterior while maintaining a soft and moist interior. The included sushi wasn't bad either, but the salmon itself was thin and a little forgettable. The cucumbers felt the same way - good with the sesame and bonito seasoning it, but nothing to write home about. The ramen itself was pretty par for the course as the texture itself wasn't disappointing nor impressive. It wasn't instant ramen level, but it also lacked the bounce/elasticity I'm used to getting with freshly made noodles. The broth itself was enjoyable, albeit a little rich and viscous for my preference. I did enjoy that it came loaded with the various toppings and an entire soft boiled egg. As well, a highlight was that they give two different types of pork cuts, and the pork belly was seasoned and cooked in a very flavourful way. All in all, pretty satisfied with the overall experience and was thankful for the kind man behind the counter who chatted with me too! Parking: Parking in this plaza is often difficult during peak times, so plan ahead and/or prepare to park underground.
Located in Langham Square, the ambiance is simple but the food is delicious. Seating can be limited if the place is full. They've got a great selection of dishes from noodles and rice to tapas and other appetizers. I had their Grilled Eel meal set that came with a selection of side dishes served with rice. Portions were perfect. Their pork belly ramen along with takoyaki was superb. Prices are reasonable and the quality is excellent along with their service
This was such a great Ramen shop! We've been to many in Vancouver and Toronto and this ranks as one of the most flavourful. The portions are awesome and the meat is perfect. We also tried the aburri sushi and takoyaki, both yummy!
