Sushi and Ramen in the heart of West Loop sounds amazing! The food is unbelievable! We got a sampling of appetizers, sushi and ramen! The ramen was probably the standout. We got the pork belly. Definitely suggest it! The reason for the 3 star review is due to the service. It was extremely slow and we had to flag down a waitress numerous times. It had a very European cafe feel.
This place was really awesome. The gyozas were extremely fresh and crispy. The dipping sauce they come with was really good as well. The sushi was also awesome, very fresh fish with good sauce combinations. The ramen was okay, honestly not my favorite part. The broth just didn’t have as much flavor as some of their competitors. They might have better alternatives though, I was forced into a specific one for restaurant week.
This was by far the best Chicago Restaurant Week deal. You get gyoza, ramen, sushi, and ice cream which isn't pictured for $25. WHAT A STEAL. Our server was so kind and very helpful with helping us decide what to get, aka which ramen is better than the others. Drinks are not included, but look at that beauty of a drink. I recommend coming here before restaurant week ends, but I am coming here again to test out the other food items.
One of the best places for sushi and ramen in town! Went there for the first time a few months ago and fell in love with the whole vibe. Very cozy and contemporary at the same time. The food was absolutely delicious and the lycheetini cocktail is probably the best cocktail I have ever had anywhere! Ordered for delivery today, and they delivered right on the dot. 5+++ for quality and promptness. I will keep coming back. Amazing experience.
If you're looking for the best ramen or sushi you've ever eaten, look no further than Sumu!!! You will be treated by outstanding service and quality. The noodles are made by hand everyday. The sushi was the best I've eaten, very fresh. The ramen broth was unbelievably good. My daughter loves the ramen here. I highly recommend getting anything from the menu and you won't want to go anywhere else!
One of the best sushi Highly recommend the sushi which was decorated beautifully for the eyes, also tasted decliously in the mouth. The sushi chef is an artist! We had different spicy ramen bowls. One of the best we had! P.S. Parking was easily unlike Chicago downtown area.
I went with a group of 4 and we each tried something different. I heard no complaints. I ordered the spicy salmon rolls. I thought they were really good but when I saw the sweet potato roll & black dragon roll then I wish I would have order that. Best thing I ordered was the SPICY KIMCHI FRIED RICE KARAAGE. It was soooooo good & the portion was really big. You could easily split that. I had to take it to-go. Hopefully it reheats well. Lastly I had the Old Fashioned made with Japanese Whiskey. Solid. I’d order that again. The staff were friendly. The space is narrow but I didn’t think it felt crowded. It felt cozy and lively. I’d recommend this place and I’d return to try other menu items in the future.
Delicious. The goyza had delicious meaty filling with a complex umami savory sauce. The egg rolls were also good with a crisp shell and plenty of filling with a sweet, then hot sauce. I very much enjoyed my spicy tuna with the ability to add as much heat as you wanted with the spicy mayo. The salmon avocado was very fresh tasting, but a bit mushy for my tastes. The Ramen though....we got Shoyu Pork and Shio Pork. Both were delicious and flavorful with two pieces of tender, flavorful pork. It was a very filling bowl, that was delicious the whole way through. The lychee ice cream was a revelation with a gentle sweetness that managed to be very refreshing and it was pretty too.
Food was fantastic!! Had a large group and everyone loved their food choice- a little bit of everything: ramen, sushi, fried rice, and dessert. Staff was friendly. I'm not a fan of street parking but it is Chicago, so it is what it is. Parking: Paid street parking.
Stopped for maki rolls, good service, good roll pricing and quick preparation. Very good maki and dipping sauce, though the rolls could be sliced a bit smaller as they are too much of a mouthful. In and outside seating.
