The experience was beyond anything I’d imagine. From the beautifully lit interior to fantastic presentation of food to the endless layers of flavors meeting your tongue, this was truly a memorable time. With an open wallet, I made the trip to try a wide selection from the menu and it did not disappoint. Your tongue will enjoy dissecting the layers as they meld together in your mouth. The portions and pacing of the dishes never left my stomach feeling “full”, allowing me to fully savor every dish from the first to last. I left with a happy stomach and an experience I will not forget.
We've come here multiple times. When we came recently, the menu was new. We had high hopes for the food, because it's always been good. The creativity in selecting novel ingredients and the quality of food were both on point. However, for some reason the seasoning was way too salty in almost every dish that unfortunately drowned out the flavor of the ingredients. We will still return but hoping that the seasoning can improve.
Excellent Japanese food. The sushi was fresh and beautifully prepared. The duck liver pate and waygu beef were outstanding. The staff were knowledgeable and fast. The decor is modern with some traditional twists. The only real downside is its a but if a zoo: very busy and noisy. But the food is world class, so worth visiting.Food: 5/5
Great night out but not a cheap one. Worth nearly every penny as the portion sizes weren’t too amazing. So we ordered more, delicious food and the sake we ordered was brilliant. Will be back for celebrations and events.Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
Food was great! Some small plates a tad bit on the pricier side for what they are but nothing crazy. Meal portions were more than enough. Everything was unique and delicious.
One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. The food was absolutely delectable and each dish was better than the last. The waiter made excellent suggestions and the service was great and speedy! Plan to spend about $150 per person [without drinks].Food: 5/5
My friends and I did family style and we ended up spending around $70 each but that includes four appetizers, sake, dessert and sashimi. This place is pricey but you taste the quality and complexity of the food. The servers were really helpful with recommending a sake to pair with the food we were eating and they frequently checked in on our table. My recommendations are the steak skewers, the tuna sashimi, and the Miso Blondie for dessert. This restaurant is one of my favorites in Chicago, highly recommend going.
This sushi restaurant is absolutely amazing! They offer excellent sushi and tasty tapas style plates. We enjoyed our sushi’s there from the first bite to the last. The sushi’s are tasty, fresh and delicious. The drinks are good as well. We sat at the sushi bar and Chris, the sushi chef was very friendly and professional. He made us excellent recommendations, shared his personal favourites with us and made sure we enjoyed the delicious sushi’s and plates this restaurant has to offer. The decor and the vibe are both awesome. The service was also impeccable! Overall, I recommend this restaurant to every sushi lover in town and I will gladly come back to try out more delicious items on their menu! ***edit*** we also tried the izakaya Downstairs and the food and ambiance were amazing!
Went here for anniversary dinner. Food is great, we enjoyed it very much. Definitelt try the soft shell crab and the fried rice. Although the tables are a little bit to close to other people. It is very loud. All in all, it was a good experience. Parking: They have vallet parking.
A birthday celebration necessitates a great sushi restaurant visit, and Momotaro delivered! I was excited to get to go to Momotaro for my partner's birthday. I booked a prime-time dinner reservation and when we arrive most of the restaurant was full... on a Tuesday. We were seated across the restaurant in a booth and chair. Much like the other hot restaurants, the tables are far too close together here and make for some tight quarters. Overall, the restaurant was lively with various types of groups families, couples, friends, etc.. It wasn't too loud and we could hear each other with no problem. The service was great throughout. Our server was attentive and helpful in making recommendations. They recognized quickly when the sushi rolls we had ordered were taking much too long and apologized for the delay. It was no issue, but nice to see that they were aware of longer kitchen times. The food was top-notch. The sushi rolls were flavorful and not overpowered by sauces or other condiments, the fish and all its flavor were able to shine. The Yakitori Don was a bit smaller than what I had expected, but that did not affect its flavor. The chicken was crispy and the egg yolk brought everything together quite well. I was personally most excited about the Mapo Tofu. Having lived in China for some time, I have been craving this dish. It was different from how I'd had it before, but it more than fulfilled my cravings. The tofu was tender and melted in your mouth. The flavor of the sauce was pronounced and came through fully, without overpowering the tofu. We finished our meal with the Miso Banoffee. I wasn't quite sure what to expect based on the description but I was very pleased with our choice. It had a great balance of coffee, without being too bitter or heavy. The bonus was a second dessert, which was complimentary, to help celebrate the special day. From start to finish it was a delicious meal and a fantastic way to celebrate a birthday. I highly recommend Momotaro for any occasion from a celebration or just a great meal. Snag a reservation and get out to West Loop!
