Ajida is a family run Japanese corner joint in the Loop. Family owned and operated, and amde it through COVid! Ajida is not your typical noodle shop, but rather, a cozy sit down joint focused on taste. Ajida's menu is paired down and simplified to present their best appetizers, teppanyaki and soups. Take it to go or phone ahead as lunch and dinner space is limited. We ordered the Udon and appreciate the delicate broth with so many flavors. Noodles and fixings are on point and portions are enough to share. Feels like I'm eating at my friend's parents house... even though I'm stuffed, I'm wanting more!
Highly Recommend: Will definitely be back for ramen again. Got the Shoyu Ramen, one with pork belly and one chicken, as well as buns with beef. All tasted great. Surprisingly, the Ramen flavor was probably the best I've had in Chicago so far, especially with the pork belly, chicken was good but a little dry. I wish it had a bit more meat and stuff in it other then the ramen/noodles themselves.
Decent Japanese restaurant. The Takoyaki is a little too oily. Ramen tastes fine. One of the real Japanese food in Chicago. The service could be better though…
My go to place for Japanese curry and Japanese food in general. The curry is wonderfully spiced and the overall environment is so cozy. Definitely a hidden gem and perfect date spot. Will absolutely be returning.
This is utmost the best ramen place in the city. I was out with my friend craving japanese styled curry and was looking up places in the city that served any there isn’t a lot, I literally have to go all the way to Arlington to get my favorite meal. When I found this place the pictures looked super promising so we walked over there. Suddenly, instead of getting the curry I was overwhelmed to get the ramen. I asked the waitress which one was the most popular, she responded with the Miso Ramen which I LOVED. I am a very very picky eater especially when it comes to meals like Ramen. This was the only bowl in which I wanted to finish entirely, and I DID! The egg was my favorite part, many restaurants don’t know how to make their eggs right. The broth was amazing and full of so much flavor! My friend, luckily, had tried the Katsu Curry and omg it was amazingggg she let me try some. This place was like a hidden gem and i’m so happy I found out about it. I loved the atmosphere overall and I was so perplexed when I realized me and my friend were the only ones there. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! BEST RAMEN IN THE CITY!
I used to visit Ajida years ago when I worked in the Loop. I’m glad to see it is still open and still serving some of the best miso ramen in Chicago. I ordered the miso ramen with beef and the beef was delectable! They make a flavorful broth that is like a symphony for my taste buds.
Fuego the Shoyu Ramen is where it’s at. A bit spicy. I got it w/ pork belly. I really wish they added more noodles and pork belly cus it was reallly good. The pork belly was the best part. 5/5 for me.
Absolutely Great place for lunch or a date. Self-sitting so you can always find the perfect table. Small but Absolutely amazing menu. Everything seems to be cooked to order.Food: 5/5
Saw the rave reviews for the ramen here so we stopped in for dinner. As another reviewer commented, this place has no business being rated 4+ stars. The ramen was fine, nothing at all special. I had the shoyu ramen and the broth was decent. The noodles were also just okay. The egg in my ramen was cold in the middle like it was taken from the refrigerator and dropped in the bowl right before bringing it out. There was a small handful of other patrons dining when we arrived but the server was simultaneously unenthusiastic and seemingly rushing us to order and finish our meal. Really underwhelming.
I've eaten ramen at many places in Japan and I've been wanting to find a place that is similar to that here in Chicago. Yes I can go to Arlington heights for a close to experience, but in Chicago there are few places you can go. Then I found this place! The ramen speaks for itself. The service is ok but with the shortage of staff everywhere it's to be expected. The broth was amazing. No real need to add more flavors but you can I'd you want to make it spicy. Or if your like me you bring your own minced garlic to get the blood flowing. The egg yolk was still soft and some small bit was runny which was a big plus to me. The fact that it's in downtown making it a easy place to get to is even better! The pork in my ramen was the softest I've had in a long time! I can't wait to be back! Looking forward to trying all the dishes to give a full review .
