This is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. I have been here over 20 times and the food is always consistently excellent. The price is reasonable and service is amazing. Fish is always fresh. Octopus always grilled to perfection and the glazed cod melts in the mouth. Highly recommended.
One of the best sushi spots in Chicago! Great ambiance for both indoor and outdoor seating and perfect for dates/work dinners too. Highly recommend the rock shrimp and dumplings. All of their cocktails are spectacular!
10/10 love this place. The smell inside is probably my favorite smell in the world. The food is amazing too. Definitely get the filet. It was tender and juicy and perfectly cooked. Great flavor. Miso cod was amazing as well. I dream of these dishes. Come here and eat! You won’t be disappointed. Our reservation was at 7 and we were severe and out of there in 40 minutes. Service was great but I would have liked our food to be paced out a litter slower so we could have enjoyed our time more. So yummy and so delicious
The “decadent” tasting menu was absolutely incredible… 14 dishes and worth every penny and we left with full stomachs!! Excellent service - from the timing and attention to the plating to every little detail. Extremely high quality experience.
I have to give Roka Akor 5 stars for the combination of amazing food, drinks and ambiance. The best way to describe the feel of this place is sexy. Low lighting, soft house music and modern, comfy furniture made it the perfect spot to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. Would highly recommend dynamite scallop and Serrano chili rolls. Waygu and kimchi dumplings were amazing as well. Fun cocktails too! The highlight, though, was the service. Our server was attentive and friendly, and she brought us free champagne and ice cream for the occasion!
This was my first dining experience in Chicago and one of my favorites. I learned Roka Akor is a chain afterwards, but it does not have the chain experience. The restaurant is sleek, modern, and unique. Lisa, the hostess, was in incredibly wonderful and put me in my ideal seating location. Kathryn , my server, was phenomenal! She guided me for some of the best drinks and was on point the entire time. Martin, the bus boy, was always ensuring the table was cleared and water was never low. As mentioned everyone was fantastic! I did the decadent omikase, and it was perfect. Everything served was just as great as the last and nothing could be left behind. For $145 a person you ate like a kind and left satiated with creative and dishes. All the food was light bodied as to not leave you bloated making it the ideal eating experience. The cocktails were also amazingly creative, with varieties of rum, bourbon, vodka, and gin. I was able to have a variety of liquors without feeling pressed in my choices. If you have a chance to come here you should, but make sure to book in advance. Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant is street level with no stairs. Easily accessible by wheelchair. Dietary restrictions: Depending on your restrictions there are many options here that could accommodate your needs from gluten free, fish, and red meats most items should be covered.
Very fun and delicious place. Yes, it's on the expensive side...but still a good time and feels worth it. Great hip vibe and all dishes I've had are fresh and delicious. If you want a good place with trendy vibes and tasty food -- you won't be disappointed! Also good for work dinners.
The food was phenomenal but portions were small to say the least. Tried the Chicago - Restaurant Week option. The tuna maki sushi roll 4-piece, beef dumplings, and yellowtail sashimi were the first course and then I chose the black cod as my main entree and the berry custard dessert. Price -$55. It was delicious! I was just hoping for slightly bigger portions. I was still hungry at the end of the night. The service here is great as well. My son dropped a toy on the floor and one of the servers picked it up even before I could! Overall, I would recommend this place but just know that you may have to order extra sides or appetizers to satisfy your hunger! :
We stayed in Chicago for nearly a week hitting up all the restaurants we researched before hand. On our last night we picked Roka Akor on a whim and it was our favorite from the entire trip! The ambiance and service was spectacular, but the food was the real hero here...we started with the Yellowtail sushi appetizer and the Waygu dumplings. We also had the lobster and shrimp dumplings and the Hamachi Serrano Chile Roll. All of it was spot on with a burst of various flavors. We finished with the lamb chops, sweet corn and Mushroom pot. I hope you have a chance to enjoy this place soon!
Fantastic place with comfortable and warm atmosphere. Try the chefs tasting menu you'll have a great time, they really do a nice job of the selection and pairings.
