The best ramen in the city! Get here early, put your name on the list and they will text you. By 5pm the wait is typically over an hour. By 6pm it’s a 2 hour wait. The music is always unique house music with thumping bass that fits the dark basement bar ambiance perfectly. Their 22oz $11 Japanese beer is a great complement to the spicy ramen. The menu is simple and DELICIOUS!
Small lowkey Ramen spot with an amazing atmosphere and vibe. The mix between basement and base brought the ambience to the next level. Great if you're a fan of house music. The Ramen excels in terms of broth but falls short in other areas. The noodles were okay but the toppings a bit lack luster. Overall great experience, must try however wait times are a bit long. Please let me know the playlist if possible, not a single song was a miss.
Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! One of Chicago's top Ramen spots for me! Definitely get their early! This underground spot has great ambience and jams, with 16-seats, reminiscent of Japanese taverns. Review here is on Saturday late afternoon after St Paddy's Day Parade and Chicago River dyeing. First in line at 305pm! Would rather wait in line before opening versus waiting in line after opening. Definitely get one of their bowls beginning at half spice. I typically get their Shoyu. Their Slushies are delicious but so are their selection of Sake. Can't wait for next visit!
First off, the wait to eat here is crazy!! But once we got down there it made a lot of sense because the sitting area is super small and intimate. The service was spectacular and we even got free shots after our meal. The ramen was delicious but definitely spicer than I thought! The overall experience was super fun and I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting or local to Chicago.
I liked that this place feels very exclusive. The vibe is cool and the food tastes delicious! I wish they took reservations because the wait time on a Thursday night is 1 hour. After that, the ramen is more on the pricier side than other ramens in the area. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for wait and price.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
Amazing Ramen All around, this spot is on point. I had the Tonkotsu bowl and it was crafted to perfection: the broth was dense and rich, the noodles had great texture, and the pork melted in your mouth. Definitely plan ahead and get your reservation here. It’s worth the wait!
Excellent spot for ramen! Like all the reviews say, it’s a very small space of only about 15 seats. I got there about 20 minutes before it opened and joined a line of a few people. When they opened we were sat right away, and within 4 minutes of opening, there were no open seats left! The staff was very helpful with the amount of spice to order. We each ordered one of the frozen drinks, which were very good. The ramen was very good and flavorful, the spice was just right for what we were looking for, although I did add some of the chili crunch they had. I will definitely return again!
Too salty for my taste. I ordered tonkotsu ramen and it was too salty. I normally eat salty, but here, they added too much and made the dish very displeasing. However, I really loved their dark and low light ambiance. I think it is a great place for first dates. I recommend just ordering draft Japanese beer and go upstairs to eat the brisket. Service: they wanted us to leave and they continuously asked us if we needed anything else. I know this space is really small and only holds 16 seats, but I waited an hour to eat at this place. I probably won’t come here again.
I found a Ramen noodle place that reminds me of the noodles I had in Tokyo.. so good! The miso broth and sliced pork makes the difference. You have to know where it is to find it… even with the address you could miss it. See the hand on the door? It’s behind there, seats only 16, has a line before the 4pm opening, and is worth the wait.
The service and atmosphere are amazing! Unfortunately the ramen falls flat and is quite average. Even if you enjoy spicy food, the full spice bowl is not the way to go. This is due to how they achieve this spice level. In my photo attached to this review you can see just how much chili flake was put in the bowl. Although this does generate a fair amount of spice, it also adds an extremely granular consistency which really disrupts the feel of the noodles which on its own I would describe as above average for Chicago. Tl;Dr: 10/10 Atmosphere and Service, Food is 6/10, don't go higher than half spice not because of heat but because of texture.
