Omakase Yume created a wonderful evening out. As we walked in to this tiny restaurant that initially appears plain and unfinished, we were rapidly welcomed and seated at the pre-assigned seats with our names. The simplicity rapidly translated into easily accessible close-up experience of Sushi with beautiful presentation, tasteful menu and presentation, and wonderful service. There are some add-on options, and I recommend to try them, even though the Wagyu experience was not the highlight of the visit. I think it's just fun to complete the experience at this unique place with some options that don't add significantly to the final cost. I truly enjoyed the experience, and hope to come back.
It‘s my second time visit Omakase Yume. The ingredients are kept at a consistent level, but the miso soup in the menu seems to lack some sincerity.
Hands down the best omakase we've had in Chicago or anywhere else for that matter. Truly exceptional flavor in every single dish with an overall menu that is just about beyond reproach. There was only a single piece—just one—that didn't wow me and even then, it was bad or anything. Interior is very intimate and the vibe is very quiet. A little livelier and it'd be just about perfect for me but, hey, it's not all about me. If you're looking for a first-class sushi dinner, this is the spot for you. We're already trying to figure out when to go back!
Nothing I can say can replicate the experience that is Omakase Yume. Chef Sangtae Park's skills are a sight to see and his food is some of the best I've ever had in my entire life.
Loved our meal. Way better than Mako. We will be back to Omakase Yume! Dietary restrictions: Accommodated dairy free dietary restriction well!
This was hands down the best dining experience of my life Each bite was perfect and progressively better The resturant is small, intimate, quiet, extremely clean- the vibes are immaculate. The omakase is it’s own kind of theater. Breathless. I’m still dreaming of this dinner and will be back for very special occasions. Completely worth it, especially if you are a fish lover. Best dinner I have ever had- and I eat a lot !
The food is great, but I have to agree with some previous reviewers that it is quite rushed and spending that much money should result in a good and unique experience rather than a stressful dinner.
Great experience and excellent sushi. It’s a small spot with 8 seats so you can watch the chef prepare all the food. The sushi itself was incredible- amazing flavors and fresh. The service is also really great.
Great presentation and food. Wonderful meal. Intimate setting. Bit pricey but worth doing once. Service was wonderful. We were told that it was BYOB, however, were surprised with a $40 corkage fee per bottle on arrival. Would've been nice to know in advance.
I recently came here with a friend and I can confidently say that it was one of the best experiece we ever had. First off, the atmosphere was very welcoming. The chef was mostly focused on making sushi but he kindly answered any questions we had about the food such as the origin of the fish and the techniques he was applying to the dish. The hosts were amazing! They were all attentative and quick to answer any of our concerns. In fact, my table next to me brought two different types of sake and the host was able to recommend one of them for better harmony with the upcoming dishes. The hosts were very respectful and refilled our drinks throughout the course meal. We would occasionally make little talks with them and we could tell they were knowledgeable about the sushis. As for the food, it was absolutely amazing. As a person who visits Korea and Japan yearly, I must say the sushis here are top notch. I could tell all the fishes were extremly fresh. In fact, I did not expect to find high quality fishes such as kinmedai. The sake, chutoro, and kanpachi was exceptionally good! Chutoro had just the rght amount of fat which enhanced the flavor of the tuna and its unique texture when biting into it. Ive been to many japaneses restuarants around the city and I must say this place is the best in Chicago. You could tell the chef truly creates authentic japanese cruisine. When you eat the sushi, it is a bit warm due to the fresh made rice but that is how sushi actually should be. The sushis from some other resturants come out cold and you could tell that the sushis were pre-made. I hoenstly did not expect the sushis here to taste so similar to the ones in Korea/Japan with its taste, freshness, texture, and even the atmosphere. If you want to try authentic sushi as if you're in East Asia, I would 100% recommend this place. p.s. Get the wagyu sushi when its time for special order. It will blow your tastebuds.
