Stokes- Emerald Hills

I have shopped at stokes for years and have always loved their selection and product. However, the last time I went in to shop, I was on crutches as I have a fractured knee and am not getting around too well. I have some health issues that don't often allow me lots of notice when I need to use a washroom. So I asked if I could use the restroom prior to continuing shopping. I was told no, they don't let the public use the washrooms. She said I could go next door and use theirs. I said if I leave to use the washroom, I am not coming back. And the manager let me walk out the door. What is this world coming to that we can't even use some common sense to allow someone with mobility issues access to a washroom. Shame on you Stokes! I hope the manager and you know who you are, never finds herself with mobility issues as well as health issues that often keep her home bound, needing to desperately use a washroom and has some employee tell her she can't use the bathroom. There were at least 2 staff present, so why one couldn't accompany me to the washroom to ensure I don't steal anything or hurt myself is unknown to me. UPDATE - November 23,2016 After writing a letter of concern to Stokes head office today, I was promptly contacted by Stokes. I was told that although Sherwood Park does have a by-law requiring stores to provide access to a washroom, this manager was from Edmonton and was unaware of the by-law. The manager agreed however, that regardless of the by-law, the store manager certainly didn't handle the scenario well and has since been advised that sending people next door to use a washroom is unnecessary & ridiculous. The manager was sincere in her apology to me and regretted that it took me writing to head office to resolve the issue. I appreciated the prompt response and apology and the promise that it should never happen again, to anyone.

Horrible place to shop, Manager is unprofessional and has no customer service skills at all !!!!!!
