My four year old had a few months of private lessons at the YMCA. They were awful. He learned more in one 30 minute lesson at True Grit than he did in months at the YMCA. The teenage instructor literally was throwing rubber duckies in the wadding pool and having my 4.5 yo walk around and pick them up. Waste of money.
I stopped in to ask about drop in cost to swim since my regular swimming pool is closed. I was told the drop in was $12.00 dollars. A day later I drove the 10 miles to swim and after taking a lot of personal information and my picture I was told my senior rate was $25.00 dollars. Rude and very poor community service. They were a lot nicer when they were looking for my money to build this facility.
The Y has a summer program at Twin City Elementary. I was over there yesterday about 6 PM after all the kids had left and was absolutely disgusted in the way the campus was left. Potato chips, potato chip wrappers, potato chip containers, fruit snacks, empty boxes that had beverages, all left out there. Not right the janitors have to clean up after a these kids. What wrong with people running this program that they don’t make sure that the kids clean up after themselves and what the hell’s wrong with parents that don’t teach their kids to clean up after themselves? Absolutely disgusting, no respect at all. The school district should not allow the Y to use their property if they’re going to leave it so messy.
Some of the staff are very nice but some aren’t like the guy who’s name ends with a n. Very good for playing basketball
I was considering rejoining, but not after how I was treated rudely by the staff member on duty after I asked what the process was for rejoining and asked what the process was to finding out if I was eligible for financial assistance as my financial situation had changed. She just handed me the paperwork and told bring it back with me when I was ready to rejoin. This is definitely the kind of environment I want to go and be working out in! At this point I'm considering just giving up and figuring things out on my own, after I've been treated so rudely when I've gone into gyms to get information about joining, just simply because I'm wearing a mask to keep myself and others around me safe. I definitely didn't expect being treated that way by a staff member at the YMCA, especially since they are supposed to be about being inclusive to everyone!
I was at the gym this afternoon when the staff member Heather Mitchell was attacking kids while running on the treadmill because their mask slipped slightly below their nose. Her tone and attitude was disgusting. I asked her to leave them alone and let them work out. She was very confrontational and I ended up canceling my membership. I hope the YMCA in Stanwood considers vetting their employees a little more. I will not return to this gym while the staff is allowed to act in the manor Heather did. The whole confrontation happened in the weight room in front of 30 people or so.
Wonderful pool. Clean locker rooms. Very nice staff. Lifeguards are fantastic. Beautiful facilities. We are so glad we joined.
The facilities are beautiful. BUT, they do not have enough lifeguards. Unfortunately, this means that the lap pool will be experiencing unexpected and not so infrequent closures for the foreseeable future. Especially avoid Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:45M-10am as there is an extremely large senior class in the rec pool which needs multiple lifeguards. So far, they have taken the lifeguards from the lap pool, despite this being a peak time for lap swim, to use for the senior class, thereby closing the lap pool. Until they are able to hire more lifeguards, don't expect the pool to be open without verifying.
The center is nice, the daycare center would be nice if the workers would help when dropping off kids. Some kids need distraction while being dropped off. Like saying “hey look at these toys”. I just spent 20 minutes trying to talk my kids into playing while I do an aerobic class, while the workers just stood there. I understand this is not preschool, but I feel like if you work with kids then you should know some can need extra attention at the beginning when being dropped off. I’ve always heard good things about YMCA childcare, but I feel like the employees need training. They’re not horrible, but definitely have room for improvement. I’m spending 98 a month to be able to have my kids watched for a hour while I workout, and that’s wasteful if the workers don’t help with drop off especially with kids who need a little bit more reassurance. My kids said they don’t like going cause it’s boring and the “teachers” don’t pay attention. so, after my experience I cancelled my membership. I do not recommend this YMCA if you have kids over 3 and want to use the child care facility.
I really enjoy this facility. Very nice YMCA. Thanks!
