Sears Department Store

Now I see why they are closing. The manager of the sports equipment section was SO rude, first telling me how no one was paying $500 for the elliptical I wanted; and then when I joked that maybe I should try get a discount he said "if you want to negotiate go to a flea market". Really??? Thanks for the rude reply, and having zero sense of humour. It was so awkward and gruff. I'd rather pay full price, than shop liquidation from those rude people.

Shame to see this store close down after over 60 years of service. But yeah, it was showing it's age, especially the exterior. Hopefully Loblaws will move into the first floor of this space, from its current, cramped space in the east end of the mall. A theatre and gym would be nice for the second floor.

THOUGHTS ARE WITH ALL THE STAFF AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE OVER THE YEARS. This store has been a part of my life since childhood 1976 is my early memory... I was 7 I am 47 now! I even did an application and an interview years ago but sadly did not get in. A bird flew in the open window and while others continued the test I didn't finish because I caught and released the poor terrified thing.... I also became stumped on that change for a sweater question... That's okay however. Zellers Bayshore got me. I feel your pain over giving your all for NOTHING. I lasted a few years but quit before they closed but was there during the whole trying to save the store fiasco. What an education on retail you know what. THANKS HUDSONS BAY BIGSHOTS. 🙄🙄🙄Well done. I saw many who were long time employees...it still breaks my heart. Its all well and good for the younger staff... Time was Sears WAS A CAREER AND ONE YOU COULD BE PROUD OF.... YOU BECAME A FAMILY.... Those days of retail are GONE NOW. ALL THE BEST TO STAFF PAST AND PRESENT. I hope you can look back at your time at Sears with the same fondness that I do. Mom would take me in for a chocolate shake and a burger at that diner in the back. You see she was an older mom who had me in her early 40's and she was from Detroit. She gave me a love of diners. I can still remember one sunny morning and picking lunch off of a wall picture... We sat at the counter on a padded barstool.. I sat there with mom and chatting with a few working type guys truckers delivery people and the waitresses who wore 1950's style dresses and hats... I don't know why I was not in school.... It was "our place" after a morning shop... Even today I stand in that area sometimes and get tears(MISS YOU MOM) 😑.. I will miss doing that. A part of my childhood GONE. I will come to say goodbye not just for the sales.

Don't even bother going for liquidation , it's 20% of some items and there is absolutely NOBODY THERE to help you with anything. There's something called chaos, there's something called controlled chaos, this here my friends is uncontrolled chaos. People are climbing over one another as if they are shopping for the end of times.

Prices on some items are actually higher than before they were going out of business! Still a crappy store.
