An employee stopped my teenage son as he was leaving the store and accused him of stealing. He told my son that “someone” saw him put something in his bag. My son voluntarily opened his bag to show him he had only the items he paid for in the self checkout. The employee then told my son not to leave and got on the phone. My son asked why he could not leave, and the employee did not give him an answer. My son then said, I showed you I did not take anything, and why don’t you check your security cameras. The employee ignored my son and again got on the phone. He once again told my son not to leave the store. My son told him, I am leaving. You cannot keep me here. I showed you I didn’t take anything and you have security footage. This is absolutely unacceptable. You cannot accuse someone of stealing and then tell them they are not allowed to leave, when they VOLUNTARILY opened their bag. As a side note, my son only walked over to the drink cooler beside the self checkout, purchased 2 drinks and left. He had his bike with him and so he needed to be in and out quickly. I contacted the head office and they promised an investigation and follow up with the store manager. The store manager never did call us as we were promised would happen. This would have never happened if my son was an adult. They discriminated against him, bullied him, and unlawfully tried to detain him. We spend about 12 thousand a year at that store, for many years. We have not returned, and we won’t. An apology would have gone a long way, which was the least they could do. They need to reassess very carefully how they do things, as this can result in a lawsuit.
I had written a review awhile back about how unkempt the store was. It’s gotten a bit better in that regard, however there’s a massive issue now that’s been the last straw for me. They won’t be getting my business again.nnI had purchased a bunch of fresh produce. Even trying to find fruits and vegetables that weren’t withering or straight up moulding was a chore in itself in this store. TWO DAYS later, everything I had bought was rotting and no good. At the time I knew it was going to be a gamble, especially how pathetic looking everything was on the shelves.nnThe produce manager must have taken the month off. As I said, I won’t bother with Save On anymore. There’s several way better options just down the road.
Mina in the deli is an absolute delight! Always friendly and slices the deli meat perfectly everytime. I always get it shaved but it usually varies from person to person what that means. Mina does it perfectly everytime. The store itself is clean and staff are friendly but she is definitely the all star for me.
I want to share how much I appreciate that you deliver groceries. I have ordered delivery twice. Each time, the driver was prompt, courteous and considerate. Items were packed with care. Substitutions were pointed out. I know that grocery delivery might be a matter of course to some people but it is a treat for me, especially if I'm under the weather. Thank you so much to Tim and to Ken, the drivers. You've made a real, measurable difference in my day.
Sale items not in stock. When asking about a rain check the staff at the customer service counter got rude. Snapped and said if it’s not in the flyer you don’t get a rain check even if it’s for sale on the website. After this experience me and my family will be hard pressed to set foot in this store again. Will also do an informative review on all social media platforms.
