I love this place! It's super close to home, very clean and quiet. Pets are allowed too.
I have been going for years to this camp ground. It's a nice little getaway if you live in the cities. Fishing spots all over, a few bait shops in the area. Customer service has always been pleasant in the town. The little area for the camping spots are just right. They have a lake that is walking distance from the camp grounds, they even have a shower building, group camping, and RV camping as well. A nice little gem of a campground to escape to, even for just a day/night. Note: most places require masks.
Great weekender campground. They have water and power spaces for campers and rustic spaces for tent camping, great fire rings with built in grilles. Very reasonable prices, vehicle permit camping and firewood came to about 32 a night. very close to the metro area but off the beaten path enough for that wilderness feel. Tons of bike paths, bring your bike to get the most of the places. Real nice showers and multiple playgrounds for entertaining the kiddos and cleaning up. Showers do not cost anything more just need to take turns when busy. We never had to wait though. Beach is excellent lake is clean and there is a boat ramp. Bring your water toys. Trust me being a native of the twin cities, you can drive farther and do worse.
Very nice campground -- in a county park, no less. One can barely see other campers, and with the CG barely occupied mid-week, we were mostly alone. All roads are gravel. Sites are grass and gravel. No problem leveling. Playground for kids plus very nice beach on lake. A nice find. We will return.
Great campground. Quiet and clean. Wish they had sewers at the sites is our only request. Also, seems like it's costs a bit much for the amenities in comparison to public campgrounds.
Staff are rude bothering you at your campsite for little things like being parked too far into the grass, homeless all over the place trashing the bathroom that has no lock. Go somewhere more secure this place is trashy.
Great location, clean, quiet, nice beach, nice sites, felt somewhat secluded.
Had a great time at the campground. We were surprised to find out they had an open mic that night around a campfire by the beach. Besides the fun we had planned it was nice to hear some songs, stories and jokes. The only issue I had was the noise around 4 or 5am, it sounded like an engine running loudly. It was the start of duck hunting so it may have been related to that.
I like the campground itself. We have come here every year for the past 10 years. The bees are absolutely terrible though. The past 3 years we have gone, they have gotten progressively worse. This year was by far the worst we have experienced. We could not even be outside for more than 5 minutes and they are swarming. People in our group were getting stung and spent a majority of the time in the camper with the kids due to how bad the bees were. We will not be coming back for a while. It was not enjoyable.
We were looking for a low-key first camping experience for our kids, not too far from the Cities in case they really couldn't handle it. This fit the bill. The campsites were fine, some more separate and shady than others, but pretty standard and basically what I expected. Had no problem with the one we stayed at. The kids appreciated the playground tons. When we were there the lake was having an algae bloom, so we were disappointed not to be able to swim, but that wasn't something anyone could control. Didn't love the trucked-in construction sand on the beach, though - I didn't even want to be down on the beach with that rough stuff!. The biggest issue we had was cars. We had 2, and had registered them when we reserved the campsite online. It wasn't until we arrived, though, that anyone said anything about having to pay a per-night fee to park them. You'd think this would be rolled into the cost for the site, charged when you register, or at least MENTIONED before you arrive. But no. So only when we checked in did we find out we were basically paying for another night of camping to just have our cars there. Our campsite only had enough gravel parking for one car, so we parked the other as close to it as we could and thought we were fine. Nope, the park hosts came by and told us we couldn't park the cars side-by-side. So we moved them to be front-to-back on our site, and the hosts said that was fine. The next morning a park worker came by and told us we couldn't park them THAT WAY, and that they didn't want cars possibly leaking on the grass. If they allow two cars per site and make you pay for it and don't want cars off the gravel, they need to gravel for two cars per site, otherwise change the parking allowances and costs. This especially didn't make sense as we were in a loop that also allowed campers and trailers, which were definitely parked on the grass. Overall the campsite and amenities were fine, and this would be a four-star review if not for the inconsistent, misleading treatment of the cars you use to get to this campground.
