Plato's Closet® is all about being fashion savvy and shopping smart. We specialize in gently used clothes and accessories for teen and twenty something girls and guys. All stores are independently owned franchises.

At Plato's Closet® you'll find a huge selection of trendy, designer styles as well as those every day basics you can't live without - all at up to 70% off mall retail prices!

Our stores buy and sell girls sizes 0/1 to 18/20 and guys size 28 to 38 waist. The gently used clothing and accessories that we buy are: top-name brands, cool, hip, trendy, and clean. Typically we buy items that have been in the retail stores within the past 12 to 18 months.

Our process is quick and easy:

1. Go through your overflowing closet
2. Bring in your cool stuff
3. Walk out with new cool stuff or $$$ in your pocket!

I’ve been here a few times and always leave feeling the same level of frustration, so I finally figured I’d write a review.nnThe racks are packed so tightly you can barely move the hangers, let alone actually see what’s there without wrestling items out one by one. It’s kind of like Winners… but somehow even more chaotic and the same price?!nnOn the rare occasion I did find something I liked enough to pull out, it was stained. Multiple times.nnThe staff have never been particularly friendly, and between the stained clothes and the Olympic-level effort required just to browse, it’s just not worth the hassle.

I’m not sure why there are so many reviews saying the staff is rude — in my experience, they’ve always been nice and friendly. The store is also very clean and well organized, which makes it a pleasant place to shop.nnJust keep in mind what to expect when selling here. They typically price items at about 50–75% off the original retail price, so the payout reflects that. If you’re hoping to make a lot of money back on expensive items, this might not be the best option.nnThat said, I do recommend this place if you’re selling well-used items that are still in good condition and just looking to declutter.

I never write reviews but this was just a horrible experience in all. I brought two full bags of clean, good condition brand name clothes such as aritiza, H&M, Zara and more! I used to have a shopping addiction and I hardly wore any of the clothing. This isn’t about the money but about the way this business is run and the SCAM of a store.nnWhile the girls who were incredibly rude looked over my clothing I went shopping and to my dismay most of the clothing had marks and blemishes which is fine as it is still a second hand shop.nWhile shopping i was close to the desk and I could hear the girls talking about their sellers not sure if it was me or the six other people waiting to get their money laughing saying “she doesn’t believe us and is watching close by”. Yikes. Projecting?nComing back to the front desk they gave me back both of my bags stating that they are “out of style” and had “marks”nThey took seven articles of clothing mainly jeans and sweatpants.nnA I pre washed all the clothes before handing them over and it would be fine if there weren’t literal makeup and sweat stains on the clothes already in store.nnB These clothes were curated by me to ensure that they were up to date with the current styles as I have always kept up with the trends of the seasons.nnSave your time and do not go to this location. I hope that the girls working the day shift today have someone talk to them about customer service. I have 7+ years in customer service and I have never been treated this rudely and cannot fathom treating others this way. I held my tongue and instead chose to write a review. I will be donating my clothes from now on, 48$ is not worth the hassle.

had a very disappointing experience selling at Plato’s Closet. I brought in high-quality, branded items including Kate Spade, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, Under Armour, and Columbia—many of them brand new with tags or very gently used because they no longer fit me. I also had bags from Guess and Tommy Hilfiger.nnThey rejected everything. What was most frustrating is that one entire bag of clothes was never even opened or looked at. I know this has been mentioned in other reviews, so I intentionally marked the bag beforehand—and it was clear it hadn’t been touched.nnOn top of that, the staff was judgy and unfriendly, which again seems to match what many other reviewers have experienced. If they don’t want to buy items, that’s fine—but at least properly look through what customers bring and treat them respectfully.nnOverall, a complete waste of time. I wouldn’t recommend selling here.

I brought in items that were used but like new, including North Face boots and an H&M dress that had only been worn once. After looking through my items, they said they were out of trend and showed signs of wear. They offered me $8 for the dress, which originally retailed for around $60 at H&M, and returned the boots even though they were in brand-new condition.nnWhile shopping, I also noticed a pair of jeans with a huge rip on the back where you could clearly see someone’s skin — is that the new trend or something?nnThe staff responsible for making the buying decisions were also kind of rude. Overall, this was very disappointing, especially after hearing so many good reviews.
