Pagliacci's
"Pagliacci’s is one of those timeless places, born in passion, carved from life and bathed in laughter. From the focaccia bread and soup through the Broadway-style cheesecake, every morsel is made on the spot, served with style by someone hustling for you. And there’s more than enough pasta or steak to bring home to Asta. Step back into history. This is what it used to be like before franchises.Nourishing souls since 1979"

We came for dinner on an early Monday evening and there was already a lineup. The host told us that it was the “fastest moving lineup in Victoria” and, not too long after, we were seating inside. The atmosphere was very lively and the decor had lots of interesting things to look at. Overall, the food was delicious! The house-bread was so good that we just couldn’t stop eating it. We ordered an assortment of appetizers including the Crab Cakes, Meatballs and Mezze Platter; and for mains, we tried a couple seafood pastas and mixed seafood bowl. The portions were substantial although the amount of seafood in of the pastas wasn’t as abundant compared to other dishes. Also, some shrimps could have been cleaned better. We also tried several drinks and cocktails; and, they were nice. We sat close to the bar so, the bartender took good care of us personally. The rest of the staff was very friendly and diligent as well.
We stop by this place for lunch and love it! All the staff was super friendly, helpful, and kind. We enjoy talking with them. Everything we ordered from the food and drink was savory! They have such a huge selection of lunch and drinks. The restaurant itself is small, but they do offer outdoor sitting. Walk-in only. First, come serve. Thursday to Sunday they offer live jazz music. Check them out if you are in the area.
The food pasta at this place was amazing!!! I ordered The Shell Game dish and I got to say it's probably one of the best pasta dish I ate. The only complaint I have was that the size of the food is small so definitely go for size Large as it's just a few dollars more! The happy hour appetizers were also good. The service was also excellent although I can see our waiter is way too busy it was crowded so he forget us a couple times but he was pleasant nonetheless. The setting is sort of very crowded tables too close so that's the only real downside. I'm definitely coming back here again if I'm at Victoria Island.
This restaurant is what my food dreams are made of. Everything, and I mean everything, was the closest to perfect I have ever experienced. From the clever item names, to the perfectly procured *local* silk road brand tea, and the live band. We shared the duck wings a little spicy, perhaps too spicy for some, and I had the enchantment under the sea salad. Unfortunately, they were all out of salmon, but their grilled chicken did not disappoint. Bring a hefty wallet worth every penny, your appetite, and enjoy!
Lively New York style restaurant. Walk ins only. My wait for 4 was 10 to 15 mins. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. Desserts cake are amazing and not too sweet. Washroom is tiny. I guess it fits New York style theme. There are parking garage readily available close by.
The food was good. I tried 3 dishes off their happy hour menu. Two pictured below: crab cake and duck wings. Both good, the menu describes the sauces differently, but they're both the same. Place got crowded fast, waiters and waitresses were fine.
I can’t even describe in words how amazing and unique this restaurant is. It’s a hidden gem as a tourist since we just stumbled across it when we saw a lineup outside. The atmosphere inside with a live band is incredible and the food is so good! So happy with the vegan options! The vegan broker dish was my fave and the Pagliacci’s sour made vegan was amazing! Hands down one of best restaurants in Victoria, let alone Canada! So much character and good energy can’t recommend enough
When you mix good food and live music, my heart melts. This place had history written all over it. It was packed the night we went and for good reason too. The live music was 100% and the food was worth the wait in the cold to get in. Speaking of which, they gave us blankets and bread while we waited outside for tables to be free. Likes: Everything. The food was delicious and a lot, while being a bit affordable. Could be pricey for some others but I thought it was worth it. The menu had really funny food names and that just added to the laugh. The staff were amazing folks. They made us really comfortable while we waited for our table. The live music was amazing and funny. There were a lot of historical pictures and stuff to make you feel like you were part of something. Loved it. Dislikes: None I can think of If you're ever in Victoria BC, please visit this restaurant and you'll thank me for it. Next time I'm in town, it will be my first port of call.
Thursday night, we expected huge line up around 7pm. Wait for almost 35min not bad i was very excited this restaurant from great reviews.. But their special ? Main attraction meals was all sold out or not serve that night. Also no duck. At 7:45pm Our server told us ‘ not stock fresh oyster and clam today anymore” Okay, but if you can not serve your MAIN dishes why did not sign front of restaurant? Or hostess can tell us when we were line. Then we do not need to wait our precious time to line up for 35min. We could go somewhere. Everyone said focàccia is great, yes bit salty but good. Pasta was delicious, but not stake. I really wanted to eat oyster or clams at this restaurant. Only one night visit Victoria, so sad.
There was a bit of a line up outside. A few people didn't make the cut and left early. Silly them, the food and service was top notch. The care, love and attention to detail and overall quality control really showed through in the food. Also live music was a cherry on top.
