I had dinner there last night. It was amazing, unfortunately my favourite server cam wasn't there. I also met Andrew outside and he had great things to say about karaoke and made us super excited about sonoras future. We are super excited to come next Thursday from karaoke. Thank you everyone!
This place is fun on the weekends, just really loud but the vibe is good and the drinks are cheap. The tall server with the blonde hair was really nice and attentive. I have been here multiple times and he made my experience here the best, a better improvement from the staff who worked here before, karaoke is so much fun
The food was awful no flavour... Just bland.. No salt and pepper really... I'm a chef and honestly for this establishment to have 4 Star rating is beyond my understanding.... The specialty drinks lacked of alcohol..... Really... Bartender need to learn how to mix drinks.. I'm. Not being harsh but really other Mexican restaurants with lower star rating can do better than this... Sorry for ever coming to this bar and grill... Worst food ever!
There is a lot to talk about from my experience at the Sonora. A group of us arrived with a reservation for dinner. We found ourselves a suitable place to sit. We waited for a server to appear eventually, and he arrived with menus for about half of us. The menus were sticky and unclean, just like the table top and the floor. Drinks were ordered and took about 20 minutes for the first ones to be served. The food orders started trickling to the table quite a bit later, but at least we were able to get the table top sanitized in the meantime. Most of us found the meals to be just ok; my Carne Asada was way over cooked and under seasoned and served as a pile of ingredients that made it difficult to eat. The impressive mass of the serving dish looked interesting but lost its appeal once I began to eat from it Yes, we were a largish group, but we did have a reservation, so I hoped they would be prepared, which they clearly were not. Except that they took the time to automatically add a gratuity to the bill, but failed to mention that fact when we paid, so we ended up double+ tipping. A couple of people who had kept receipts went back to claim a refund for that. I didn't do so, as my final recollection of the place was of the organisms of dubious provenance growing from the grout around the restroom sink. Returning for any reason is not in my agenda.
Our server Santiago last night was great! Drinks super tasty too. Wanted to order some churros, but they were sold out, they must be tasty! Coming back to try them soon!
Definitely pick this place if you are looking for more of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant. It was very loud, we could barely hear each other, and this was around 8:00. The food was ok, my carne asada was very dry and tough. My sister ordered tacos with no cilantro. It came loaded with cilantro. When she asked the waiter about it, he took it back. When he brought her a new dish, it felt like the same one with some of the cilantro scraped off. She couldn't eat it. Again, maybe as a bar it's good but I don't recommend eating here.
Super busy during the week ends and really fun. The drinks are very good and inexpensive. My server was called cam and he was great.
A really nice to place have some authentic mexican dishes. I loved tbe chicken quesadillas there. Another must try are the tacos and torilla chips along with in-house prepared dips. To top it up, Churros made it even sweeter. Absolutely loved the service from Joe and the Chef. Will definitely visit again! Keep up the good service.
I never leave bad reviews but I was extremely disappointed in this restaurant. My partner and I got tacos. They were definitely the worst tacos that we’ve ever had. I really regret not going to Tacofino but the menu online for this spot looked very good. My partner got 4 tacos and only enjoyed 1 of them. The fish taco was a dinky little fish stick that was stone cold. The rice was white minute rice with corn niblets and zero spice. The refried beans were stone cold as well. I had the vegetarian tacos which came out cold with out the ingredients that were stated on the menu. When I asked my server about it she said that the cook didn’t want to make my tacos soggy with the salsa that was promised. Why offer such a thing on the menu and go and change it without communicating that with the guest? The tofu tacos were cold and soggy with zero spice. The avocado tacos had potential. The rice and refried beans were the same situation as my boyfriend’s. By the time I was done trying to attempt eating this meal the server comes out with the salsa that was supposed to be on my tacos. By then I was just so over this experience. Save your time and money and go to Tacofino, Mexican Cafe, Darcy’s pub or even sadly Quesada. I’ve had better tacos at Taco Bell. Vegetarian options: The worst tofu tacos I’ve ever had! They didn’t even come out with the ingredients that were said on the menu. The Tofo was wet and soggy with zero spices. Go to Darcy’s Pub if you want real yummy tofu tacos.
Drinks are too expensive for what they are. Margaritas were a let down. The cheese sticks tasted frozen. Service was alright but at 9pm they turned on the music all of a sudden. It was too loud for us to hear eachother and we just had to go.Food: 1/5
