Second time visit, first time was to try their bakery about 7-8 months ago. The food is good, cocktails are also good. But the portion size is small, so you have to order at least 5 items if you are sharing between 3 people. The best part is organic food so I guess the pricing could be justified, but not for the portion size. Service was great, and very attentive for all tables including ours. Vegetarian options: They have a few options, but half of them have mushrooms, so not enough variety. Also portion sizes are small for the pricing.
So we started with the reservation when we arrived the Stafford family asked us for our vaccination status. We were quickly seated in a private area. Smoked of the year is our a bottle of wine came out. The professionalism by the entire staff was impeccable. This is all before even tasted the food. The food! The food food food. Oh food…
Cute place! Prices are good for a casual night out with good wine! Our server was warm, friendly and personable. She was knowledgeable with the ingredients of the menu, and suggested a few popular items. The special of the night, the morels, was delicious, very fresh, earthy and meaty! However the second suggestion the octopus dish fell short. While its dressing was bright and citrusy with a nice kick from the jalapeños, the octopus itself was not very exciting at all. The most disappointing though was what we were most excited for: the oven fresh pizza. It was too greasy, and while toasty bits are usually awesome, this was overall too burnt. The dough also lacked the integrity to be held while holding onto the sauce and cheese and their yummy house-made pepperoni. I think maybe it was just an off night… We will definitely give it another shot on a less busy day.
Upscale small bites/pizza. Great selection and it was all well assembled, prepared and presented. A must for pizza fans, and our small plates were well portioned and all offered well contrasted flavors. Ask your wait staff for advice, we did and had a great meal. Well worth a visit.Food: 5/5
Very fresh and flavourful food but maybe it's because we ordered too much cured meats, the pepperoni pizza was too salty for me by the time it came at the end. Nonetheless I would try them again next time I'm in town. The service was excellent, prompt and attentive but not in a hovering way. Good value overall too compared to similar restaurants in Vancouver.
Really cute restaurant and the staff were super friendly. The meats for charcuterie were all smoked in house and the veggies were all seasonal and farm to table. The kombucha was home made and was delicious!
The vibes of this place are phenomenal - in the morning it smells exactly like the bakeries I visited in Paris as a teenager, and the lighting is so soft and warm and inviting. Loved all the plants and the decor. Shout out to the whistling chef in the back, too - it added a nice touch to the morning atmosphere : I would gladly spend a quiet weekend morning reading here with coffee and pastries. That being said, everything's fairly expensive, and I didn't find what we ate particularly notable for its price. The espresso was $4.50 but wasn't particularly rich and smooth - pretty bitter actually. The quiche tasted alright but was the texture of pudding, which was a little off-putting. The pastries we got a pain au chocolat and a raspberry danish were very tasty though - soft, buttery, and flaky. And although we didn't try them, the pre-made sandwiches they have for lunches look tasty and like a great size for a lunch. Also, not a common thing to note, but I actually really liked their bathroom arrangement. Three private unisex stalls rooms each with fully closing doors, one of them with its own sink + changing table for babies, and then there was a second communal sink in the area outside the stalls which I really liked for being able to quickly wash your hands before eating.
One of the best meals I've had all year - one that I am still thinking about now a week after our trip. We were there for a special occasion and the whole experience was wonderful from the food to the exciting wine list to the personable service. The food was so good I wish I could have it more often - the porchetta di testa melting from the residual heat of the spaghetti and the pork chop was perfection - juicy, flavourful but with a nice caramelized crust. Also don't sleep on the pizza as they are know for their wood fired oven and doughs. I actually did not know they were a living wage restaurant ie gratuities are optional so was surprised when we got the bill. They definitely deserve to have a full house every night, which is why I'm writing this review I can still get a reservation next time!
We had the octopus for a stater and shared the Charcuterie board for a main. Both were excellent! The food was paired with Great service and local wine.
My boyfriend treated me to this lovely place on my birthday. Definitely was on top of our local dining bucket list and glad to have it finally crossed off. The place is packed and I see why. Wonderful service; I like our witty server off the bat he reminds me of a young John de Lancie from the Star Trek: TNG days. The food is delicious but the home run is the . My boyfriend had the Ling cod but it was so delicious that the sauce he had left over I sopped it with to ensure not one drop was wasted. Definite need to come back here in the future with friends. The level of service and tastiness is comparable to the fine dining restaurants in Yaletown and West End but at a more reasonable cost. Victorians need to try out this hidden gem if they haven't yet.
