This place is fairly new and proudly flaunts the Michelin recommended status as soon as you enter. If you get seated on time, the servers come by with tea your choice and hot water, but that’s pretty much where the positives end. They provide you with an iPad menu that really doesn’t do anything. Ours was locked and it took 3 different people to come by with different passwords to input before they gave up and gave us another iPad, this time unlocked. All the iPad does is show you the menu, you can’t order off it, so that was a waste of time. Another thing, there’s no chopstick holders so you just have to rest them on a dish or bowl or the sheet itself, which is fine, but not standard for what’s supposed to be a higher priced Chinese restaurant. It’s also tedious when you have bones or shells on your plate - which also took a while before they came to change the plates. We had several staff come by, look at the table, before a manager came by to do it themselves. We then ordered the set menu - which was a big mistake. It was very expensive for what it is. Wagyu beef was the best tasting thing we had. We got the crispy pork special which had thin strips of fried pork skin and not much else. For a main event piece, it was okay. The set menu also comes with a dessert course, which we suspected would be something like pastries, cookies, or anything that wasn’t red bean soup. It was red bean soup. The same red bean soup that most Chinese restaurants giveaway for free at the end of a meal. This was the dessert course we had to pay for because of the set menu. The manager told us they had sold out of all other desserts our reservation was 6PM and was done eating at 8PM, so another thing to add to the already long list of disappointments. For the price point, this place is a really big disappointment. There are far better Chinese restaurants available, tastier options too, that are nearby. I get it, the place is new and fancy and attached to the mall, but that may be the only redeeming factor for this place.
First time here. I like how the menu has stars for chef recommendations. We showed up on a weekday around 1230 and got a table right away in one of the smaller private rooms which was cool. The food was very presentable, which was expected given the price tier. Most menu items are above double digits. Some $9.88 single digit items. Note they also charge two dollars per person for tea. Overall it was a positive dim sum experience in a new chinese restaurant.
Came here with a group of 5 for LNY dim sum, was seated quickly despite the restaurant being busy. The food came quickly after we ordered, every dish was delicious. I especially enjoyed the special “cute” dim sum dishes, great creativity from the chef. Looking forward to trying the dinner menu next time.
Made an appointment, and upon arrival, we were informed that we would have to wait for an additional 45 minutes. The foyer was crammed, I saw an older individual in a wheel chair struggle to navigate around the sea of people. The seating situation is a mess. With tables nestled very closely and tables placed in corridors leading to a fire exit. The pathway between the wall and table was around 18", in clear violation of the BC fire code. Finally seated, 3 different people took out tea order. We had to ask several times before our tea and menu were brought to us. The food is absolutely disappointing. Lacks flavour and attention. For example, the "Shrimp paste eggplant" only tastes like the sauce cause it's been drenched in it. The shrimp spring rolls were chewy and oily at the same time and the "Matcha custard pastry" tastes nothing like matcha nor custard but rather sesame paste. The service feels very disorganized and rather rushed. Simple requests like asking for sauce/refills take forever and the food tastes like nothing.
Everything we tried was very nice At 4pm on Wednesday we were the only guests in the restaurant. All dishes were served quickly, the portions were big and they have special menu until 5pm. A fun addition to our dining was the nice bell sound of the fire alarm that went off twice at the mall.
Food was good, very unique and special one of a kind dishes offered at this location. However, we all got very thirsty after dining here which is a sign of lots of MSG in the food. We had reservations but still needed to wait for 30min after arrival. The waiting area was way too small and packed with people. Atmosphere is terrible. There's barely any space between tables. You need to walk carefully as there are servers also passing by with hot dishes. Not enough room to push a stroller through to your table, that's how tight the space is. Pretty sure they have gone over the capacity limit. Still prefer their Marine Gateway location even though the service there is known to be terrible.
Full scale Neptune restaurant. Much more upscale than the other Neptune restaurants around the Lower Mainland. Very great upper floor scenery overlooking Brentwood. A bit more pricier. Dim sum menu and quality are tops for all Neptune locations.
If you live nearby, I'd love to visit. It's a place that combines friendliness and city scenery, so it's good for dim sum.Food: 4/5
It is a perfect place for dim sum and dining. However, the elevator always out of service. It is hard for seniors to walk on the stairs.
This may be my first one star rating in my 25 plus years of dining history in greater Vancouver! I will repeat this on as many platforms as I can. Do not come here! The most dishonest business in Brentwood I have ever experienced, being a frequent diner out. A reserved a table week ahead, because I saw a good deal on Roast Pork for $368, suddenly when we arrived to the restaurant it turned out to be $599. That's the most ridiculous inflation I have seen ever! Their restaurants signature dessert was also the "free" green bean paste that was embedded in the $599 meal pricing. And the 8 pieces of crispy fish skin looked more like a half size/happy hour portion was an additional $35 charge clients a premium but give them decent stuff, is that not a fair expectation?! Unhappy diners are not to be messed with.
