The staff here are friendly, bilingual, and knowledgeable of computer accessories and parts. I found their graphics cards were very close to what many online stores were offering, and they were helpful in making me feel confident of my purchase choice. I'll definitely go back again.
I did a mistake when setting up my motherboard. I was unaware of the how the new motherboard was setup and they saved my PC's life. I also did not setup the motherboard properly but they showed me how it should have been done. I highly recommend this store if you have any technical issue! They also didn't brush me off even though I brought my computer 30 mins before closing time. Very professional of them.
Amazing help for low money: the guy in charge fixed my computer within 20 minutes for a couple of boxes 28$ in total, for 30 minutes in total. Thought it was the motherboard of my laptop: after a short talk, he opened my laptop very quickly, took off the battery and switched it on. Only one issue has to be noticed: I can t open my CD reader since I went there... but I have to come back there anyway since the battery has to be changed .... and I don t need the CD reader that much. Summary: no laptop>1 phonecall>28$>1 functional laptop without cd reader + 1 battery orderded> happiness in my face> 5 stars rating
I was just in to buy a keyboard and that's all. I didn't need a salesperson giving me attitude and looking like me like I'm a dummy. The only question I asked was that I was looking for a keyboard that was quiet. I work a lot at night so I was just looking for something that wouldn't wake my roomates up. The salesman looked at me like I was a dummy, didn't even smiled or anything. Just grabbed a keyboard and showed it to me. When looking at the other one next to it that was actually pricier and looked cooler, I then asked the salesperson to look at it so I could try it. He then looked at me with an awful look and just opened it. Just an awful experience. I understand that sometimes you hate your job but the main thing when working retail is being there to help people. I don't have to be judged or giving attitude when I'm actually trying to buy something. It sucks, big time and this is the main reason why I normally buy my stuff online. Your staff need to do their homework in customer service and at least smile when you smile at them. I was just looking for a keyboard, not to be treated like a dummy. Last time I ever set foot in your store.
Went looking for a new keyboard after having a spill with some water. The first employee was pretty judgemental and seemed surprised that I knew anything at all switches and was generally unhelpful. I was getting ready to leave and order one off amazon when a second employee came over and within about a minute he helped pick out a keyboard which suited my needs prefectly.
Bought my laptop there, good place, especially in terms of warranty. After purchase it fell and cracked with physical damage. I brought it in the very next day. Christian and his team registered my warranty in time and shipped it to Asus. I got it back two weeks later in working condition. Obviously check your warranty and keep all your receipts or else they can't do anything for you. Have them send it not the local post, because the local can risk further damage to your computer, making it unrepairable. On a final note, let's hope Microbytes will maintain their great customer service and will have even better deals and discounts on their laptops in the coming years. 5 stars.
I've visited Microbytes St Denis 2 times for repairs with my PC & Mac. Both times one of the employees, Hercules repaired my computers and did an excellent job. He spent a lot of time explaining the situation and making recommendations. The service was great and the tech. is very knowlegable. I highly recommend Microbytes St Denis. Thanks!
I brought in my early 2013 Macbook Pro Retina to Microbytes on St-Denis for a clean up Dec 18th after some minor spillage. After one day they told me that they could not clean it up and that they had to change the keyboard to be sure of absence of corrosion Dec 19th, which was a sensible assessment. I asked them to go ahead and do the job and they told me it would take a few days to get the right keyboard, to which I agreed Dec 22th. I specified to them that I was leaving for Europe on the 10th of January and that if possible I would like to have the computer ready on the 7th or 8th of January at the latest. On Dec 30th, I called them to see how it was going and they told me they had just gotten the part that morning. The next day Dec 31st they called me back to say they had gotten an English keyboard instead of French and that they had immediately ordered another one. "How long will that take?" I asked, to which they answered that they had ordered it express so "In a few days". This was the last time they contacted me. About a week later January 6th I called to ask if everything was OK and they said they still hadn't gotten the part. I was starting to get simultaneously worried and pissed off. The day before leaving the country January 9th I called one more time and they still hadn't gotten the keyboard so I reluctantly asked them to close the computer with the English keyboard instead of the French one so that at least it would be ready for me to pick up before going to the airport the next day. They said "Oh, sure, it will take a few minutes and it will be done." On the 10th of January, the day of my departure for France, I called them 30 to 45 minutes before arriving to Montreal to say that I was on my way. When I got there, they were still or just started for all I know working on the computer and told me it would take another half hour so, frustrated, I left the shop to walk around in -15 degrees weather. Finally, when it was over, I quickly looked at what they had done in the shop and didn't notice any major problems apart from the keyboard being English instead of French so I left for the airport. But when I got to France and had time to study more carefully the work done, this is what I realized I had gotten for 192.33$: - an English keyboard instead of French granted it may truly have been the suppliers' fault but I suspect fishiness anyway - the keys not pressing adequately, they are much lower than should be and it's a pain. It feels awful. - aluminum hideously scratched around left shift bar - scratch on the retina display - ON THE DISPLAY - it was NOT there when I left them the computer - the chance to leave my computer at Microbytes rent-free from the 18th of December to the 10th of January - 23 days. Did they really make me wait until the last minute hoping that I wouldn't see the scratch on the screen and on the aluminum? So that I would not have time to test their work? Would somebody really do that? Terrible experience, bad service. Would not recommend it to my worst enemy. ---------------------------------------------------Update ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reply to Chris, one of the owners: I have sent you the service number you mention with my name and everything over a week ago. I did not get a reply. And honestly, with the dates and details I provide in my description of the events, you could very easily find the info you need if you wanted to. Looks to me like an attempt to gather public sympathy in the review area without actually going through with the promises in person. If I could bring down the grade to 0 star I would, but I guess there's a limit to even the lowest standards. Cheers.
Had called another place before to get an estimate for my non-functional MacBook, they wanted to charge me 40$ just to open it. Went to Microbytes instead, polite service, very honest.
I went there after a product they didn't have at the store but had in stock. They said they would bring the product to the store in a few days and call me. They never called, I went to the store again, being told "your product will be here tomorrow". The next day they told me "someone else bought it, because they paid part of the price in advance". The store never offered me an option to pay for it in advance which is weird, anyway and at the end it was just waste of time and frustration. Terrible service, I don't recommend the store.
