Madelyn's Diner has been serving the Stratford area for many years and wants to earn your business. Our loyal customers love our personalized treatment; it keeps them coming back each time a new issue arises. Our customers are like our family.

Story

Madelyn's Diner was established in October 1985, by Madelyn and Rob McGorman, along with their children Krista and Andy. Our first location was located down the street from where we are today, at 422 Huron Street, right across the street from THE BEER STORE, which was our "slogan" for the time we were in that building. In 1989, our clientele and business had out-grown this location, and the move was made to where we are located today at 377 Huron Street, "right down the street from THE BEER STORE".
Since the very beginning, we have prided ourselves in home-style cooking, fast-friendly service, and lots of fun. The faces have changed over the years, the menu has also changed occasionally, but the main focus has always remained, fast-friendly service with Good Food and fun!!
Madelyn has done all of the baking for the Diner since the very beginning, along with the daily soups. Baking ranges from coconut cream pie, banana cream pie, cherry pie, blueberry pie, sour-cream raspberry pie, rhubarb pie, apple crisp, rice pudding and now, the EVER FAMOUS BUTTERTARTS!! For the past 25 years Madelyn, has gotten out of bed at 4:00am to be at the diner to bake for the locals of Stratford and surrounding area or our American visitors throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons.
Our soups are made daily first thing in the morning as well by Madelyn, these creations range from her famous Bean Soup, Potato Cheddar, Tomato Macaroni those are just a few of our fan favorites. Everyday also includes a selection of Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner Specials. Breakfast specials range from Eggs Benedict ... aka ... BENNY, Swiss Cheese and Asparagus Omelette with hollandaise sauce or one of our local sausages, Farmers or Honey Garlic, all of these specials include our "famous" homefries, prepared daily at the diner, along with toast. Lunch Specials range from Fish on a Bun, Pulled Pork on a Bun, BBQ Beef on a Bun, Hot Turkey Sandwich, the list is always changing, these specials include mashed potatoes (REAL NOT BOXED) or french fries (AGAIN REAL WE CUT THEM OURSELVES), along with your choice of soup or juice. Dinner specials range from Lemon Broiled Cod (one of our signature dishes), Smoked Pork Chops (locally produced), Liver 'n' Onions, are just a few of the favorites, again served with mashed potatoes or french fries with your choice of soup, salad or juice.
We serve breakfast ALL DAY, every day, and although the kitchen staff may grumble from time to time about it, they love to feed you whatever your heart desires. Our Famous Fish 'n' Chips are available every day at 11am until close, for eat in or take out!! You can't go wrong with our battered-to-order prime cut Atlantic cod, served with fries, mashed or tossed salad, a wonderful meal for all!! Peoples Choice Award "Best Fish 'N' Chips for 5 Years running" We also have a full Kid's Menu as well as a Seniors menu, these menus are offered for eat-in service only.
Over the past 25 years, Madelyn's Diner has grown into a local namesake in Stratford, a truly family owned and operated diner, currently with 3 generations working along side of each other. Madelyn Carty, owner and operator, her daughter Krista Moore, along with Krista's eldest daughter, Madelyn's grand-daughter, Lacey McGorman. We currently have a staff of 20, ready and willing to serve you in anyway possible, over the years we have employed 100's of students within the city of Stratford.
