EDIT: The hotel doesn’t even have the decency to respond to my concerns. And when I go on my other account I can’t even search up my review.nnMy experience here was a nightmare. We made a reservation yesterday and the man on the phone was polite and patient, letting us know that the only room available was the 450 penthouse suite, which cost us around $650 for the night. We had drove from Alberta to see the ocean for the first time as well as meet family. We came in exhausted and dumped all our belongings on the floor before showering and going out for dinner. We were at first a little dissatisfied with the small size in comparison to the word “penthouse,” which was a little too generous a term. Next was the poor condition of the place, with a broken jacuzzi plug came right out of the tub as well as the deteriorating bathroom sink leg. But the real kicker??? The fact that when we came back and I went to the washroom, I saw a small bug skittering away from me into a crack in the wall. Now while I’ve never found a bug in my hotel room before, it wasn’t the biggest deal at first because I thought it probably happens and while it’s gross I just thought it was a normal bug. HOWEVER at the sink I found the same looking bug running across it and I inspected after killing it. IT WAS A SILVERFISH. I completely panicked as we had left ALL our clothes on the floor that evening because we trusted the hotel to give us a clean and pest free room. So we picked everything up and my fiancé tried to get me to take a hot shower to relax. Then it happens again. We found a larger and more mature silverfish running along the floor. It was so disgusting and completely ruined the mood. Obviously I didn’t go in the shower again that night and we tried to relax in the hot tub instead. It was quite shallow and leaked due to the broken plug, but then the jets SPIT OUT a bunch of gunk RIGHT ON MY BACK. I wanted to cry and throw up at the same time because for what we paid for I would expect a clean room. I couldn’t sleep at all that night, and in the morning I was anxious to leave. I sent my fiancé down to grab a plastic garbage bag for our clothes so that they are not in contact with anything else. Not only did we find a possible pest infestation in our hotel suite, but now we have to quarantine our clothes so that the silverfish don’t infest our apartment and go after our books, clothes, and wooden furniture. What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation was instead a disturbing pest exposure, and now I’m going to have to clean out our car, quarantine and wash all our clothing, and sterilize our baby stroller. We let the lady at the front know about it, and we just got a small apology and assurance that the hotel manager would look into it, not that it will help us. And we still paid full for it. I do not blame the cleaning staff at all as our bed sheets and towels were all tidy and clean; this is a deeper issue. I’m so disappointed that we spent nearly half our rent just to be exposed to a starch eating pest. I couldn’t even enjoy the view we had after I was sprayed by the hot tub gunk. I wish we never came here.
Downside:nThe hotel receptionist was indifferent. The room he gave me was very basic. No ameneties such as slippers and toiletries.nI went back and asked him for the amenities, he insisted that there should one in the room.nThe room was located on the third floor with windows directly in front of a public sidewalk. I have to close my curtain for privacy.nUpside: Great location. It’s just minutes walking distance to the Shipyard. The Shipyard is a complex where restaurant and bars are located that opens late in the evening.nAlso , their restaurant, Water front Bar and Grill was nicely located overlooking the marina where you can see the Seabus.nI had a nice breakfast of pancakes.
Horrible rooms, very dated rooms and ancient carpet. Front desk was nice and helpful but other than that, this was more like a 2 star hotel. Also they have a great location and views by the water.
The location of this hotel was the best part. Definitely wouldn't call it a 4-star hotel. The room was simple, nothing fancy. The washrooms needed some work and upgrades. The front desk people were mostly unhelpful with questions we had.nnNote: Basic things like providing water bottles, which other hotels have no problem doing, was something they just didn't do here as well.
Excellent. Good service and nice hotel rooms. Only complaint which is minor is the restaurant has limited hours. But the positive side is that there are so many places around to choose from for food.
