So this place is a real mixed bag. Staff were nice, but the room quality was very subpar. My room had a bathroom with a cracked shower head, extremely sloppy grout work on the tiles, and a sink that didn’t drain. Also if you have a room with a connecting door to another room there is zero sound insulation - you can hear people talking normally as if they’re in your room. Extremely poorly built.nnI complained to the front desk about this as well and was told management would reach out to make it right.nnThey never reached out. The photos are misleading - this is not a boutique hotel, this is a very cheaply run 2-star hotel at best. You should know what you’re paying for. It’s unfortunate because it has a fantastic location, but with the way it’s currently managed I would advise strongly against staying here.
We booked two executive king rooms at this hotel and were very disappointed. The rooms were nothing like the photos advertised online. After seeing our room I went to reception to check whether we had been given the correct room. The clerk admitted that the photos were misleading - there was only one room in the hotel that looked like the executive photos advertised. He said he could do nothing about it. The two photos show the difference between what we were given and what was advertised.nWe also had an air conditioner that leaked across the floor which was a trip hazard for our elderly parents.nMy recommendation would be to find another place to stay.
The location of this hotel was the best part. Definitely wouldn't call it a 4-star hotel. The room was simple, nothing fancy. The washrooms needed some work and upgrades. The front desk people were mostly unhelpful with questions we had.nnNote: Basic things like providing water bottles, which other hotels have no problem doing, was something they just didn't do here as well.
The Lonsdale Quay Hotel is an excellent choice for a visit to Vancouver. We have stayed here four times in the past decade, and every time we return, we have had a memorable stay. The location is excellent — located inside the Market, right next to the SeaBus/transit terminal and close to numerous restaurants, bars and shops around the pier.nnThe hotel itself has some quirks, being located inside the market, and you need to use specific entrances after hours. It’s easy to exit the hotel at various points throughout the day, however. But the rooms are clean and spacious, the service is excellent and the breakfast restaurant on-location was good. Of course, you are able to dine at one of the many eateries — we recommend Wela and El Dorado, but others are just as good — inside the market. Despite its location and the bus transit, the hotel is very quiet and doesn’t receive a lot of foot traffic because it is on the 3rd floor.nnParking is available on-site and you pay for your full stay if you’d like through the automated machines on-site. Be advised, it’s an open lot using the honor system, and the spots can fill up, especially on weekends. It might be advisable to use alternate garages close by.nnCan’t wait until our next visit!
I would like to commend the front desk staff. I checked in after I had attended my father's celebration of life and was exhausted. Sean went out of his way to make sure that everything I needed was arranged and that I was in good hands. At times like this all one really needs is to be treated with professionalism and kindness. Thank you Sean
