We usually get the combo for 2 with a few extras and it will more than comfortably feed 4 people. Bone broth is the way to go, hands down. 4 stars because they charge $2.99 per person for the sauces now.
Incredible food! And a great way to try new things as well. Would highly recommend their mini hot pot Malatang and the steamed custard bun was so delicious. Also, one of the best drinks I’ve ever had was the Chinese herbal tea, really yummy! I actually went looking to order some for myself in bulk.
The food was awesome price is reasonable. But the services were bad. I couldn’t get our water til I asked, One food isn’t served till I asked again. We got a chipped bowl. Severs never say “ Thank you “ It’s the first time I didn’t tip in Canada.
Positives: -Nice decoration -Interesting waiting area with some stuffed animals -Decent amount of parking -Food itself was fresh and tasty -Good amount of sauces, if you pay for it -Beer is a decent price -Fried chicken wings are tasty, if cooked. -Had some kind of Chinese New Year promotion -The manager did comp us beer due to the negative experience Now let's talk about the experience and negatives: I called and made a reservation on Thursday for Friday at 8PM with a lady on the phone. She advised me to come at 8 otherwise I would lose my spot in line as they were busy. Fair enough. My friends and I arrived at 7:50 PM and stated that I have a reservation for 8. Perfect, they let me know my table will be ready in a few minutes, as they are cleaning a table. We sit down in the waiting area and have some beer. This 'cleaning a table' is said to us by the manager? several times until 8:45 rolls around, my friends debating whether we should go, because people keep coming in and getting tables before us, and we're all starving. Finally, I think? The same manager comes by and and tells us that my name was never on the reservation list , so that's why we've been waiting. WHY NOT TELL US THIS FIRST THAT YOU DON'T SEE IT THERE, AND HAVE US WAIT FOR AN HOUR? - Anyway, he comps our beer we've had while waiting, Thank you, that was nice. and just after 9pm, we FINALLY get a table. We order our food, and it comes out relatively quickly. Perhaps a little too quickly, as the cooked chicken wings which usually are pretty good at other hot pot places come out and we bite into them, only to figure out they are RAW/UNDERCOOKED inside. Refer to picture They are quickly taken inside after I mention it to the manager, and a second set is brought out, this one visibly poked into by a chopstick to EACH wing seeing if they are cooked or not also refer to picture . Also, I have never been to a hot pot restaurant that has charged me for sauces except some of the pricier sauces . Do be aware, that if you want any sort of sauce to go with your hotpot, it is $3. PER PERSON to access the all you can sauce, sauce bar. The rest of the meal that comes out is fresh, tasty and of good portion. The meat fest $49.99 is a decent deal. Unfortunately , it does not seem like they have the in house plum juice like other hot pot places. However, I did see some sort of plum drink on the menu for $10. May be a good idea to have a cheaper in house alternative for hot pot. Finally, they had some kind of New Year's promotion where we could pick a red packet stuck from the window. We got a 'free non premium meat' However, I don't know if we'll be back due to what happened. This was one of my friend's first time at a hot pot restaurant, and while he relatively enjoyed the food, was incredibly offput by the service and wait. The pricing comes out to approximately $40 per person inclusive of the beer that we had while sitting down. This is comparative with Vancouver pricing.
I ordered two order of regular hot pot for pick up. And not only I got only one order of hot pot, on top of that, quality was so bad. I used to love this place, and I was so glad that we have finally decent hot pot place in Victoria. I had to came back to restaurant, and ask if it was hot pot for two people. Turned out it was only one order, and they simply said they missed the second one. I didn’t expect anything other than the word “sorry” and rest of food I paid for. I didn’t get any of apologies or what so ever, and had to wait 20 minutes. The server and cook who was working around 6:30 they just talked to each other without legitimate explanation about what happened. I’m not expecting customer service of 5star hotel. All I’m asking was just being respectful toward other people, which is basic common sense. It’s just so unfortunate that I’ve lost restaurant to go
The attention to detail in servicing and making sure we have enough broth for the hotpot was done perfectly when we needed it. If there's anything that could be improved is cutting up everything before its served but otherwise its probably the best hotpot in Victoria.
Came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend for our first time having traditional hot pot. We loved it! Was a fun experience, broths were incredible and the portion sizes were HUGE. staff was helpful. It's nice that they have bubble tea too, it was good and boba was chewy. We can't wait to come back!
Incredibly delicious, fresh ingredients and excellent for serving lots of people. Their bone broth is unbelievably delicious by itself and especially with hand pulled noodles, chilli oil and some fatty beef or pork. Having the complimentary toppings bar is just amazing though, you can create your own favorite flavors, I usually do Sesame paste, black vinegar, cilantro and lots of garlic. They have Great Chinese drinks as well, such as wintermelon juice, Boba tea and some refreshing Tsingtao beer to go with your spicy hot pot. Very kind service as well. Truly my favorite food experience in the city.
The style of hotpot I normally eat is a bit different but this one is definitely very Chinese. Service is fast and friendly. Best eaten with friends!
So frickin good. The traditional bone broth was absolutely delicious. I love that they have the sauce station where you can customize your own dipping sauce. So fun. All the meat/veg was super fresh and I would highly recommend getting the spicy beef, it was so flavourful. Can’t wait to go back!
