My first foray into authentic Chinese food, won't be my last. Delicious food, great service, lovely atmosphere!
I dont normally give less than satisfied reviews. However i must say i was dissapointed in the service here. We ordered chicken and duck, and mostly it was bone and pepper heavy. The taste was good, no issues there, but if im dropping 20 buxz per dish, id like it to be less boney, more meat, and not so many cut up pieces of peppers. The waitress didnt check up on us, granted half the restraunt was full. I still tipped out of courtesy but it could have been more. Taste good. Service bad. Food context also not so appealing. Better luck next time Heart of Asia.
I took my neighbors out one night for dinner at this Chinese Restaurant, that was my second or third time here. I really enjoyed the spicy fish on their menu , just price is a bit higher then I thought , $25? I am not too sure about their chair here , looks like all the chairs in the house need to be replaced , I will post a picture to show you why . The night when I came in with my friends was ok, but once when I was there by myself, I had to wait for over 30 minutes to get my food on the table . I remembered that was one Friday night around 18:30 , I was on my way to Friday bible study somewhere in Cedar hill . Maybe because they were too busy with all the orders came in and I saw a group of ten people were there before I got in .
Nice to try something different. Not bad and would recommend trying this restaurant, but I wasn't impressed.
Ordered the Rice Noodle Beef Stir fry. I could have cooked a better meal in my microwave. Very poor quality of ingredients and overall food quality, I won't be returning.
The best Szechuan restaurant in Victoria! My favourite dishes from them are their mapo tofu and fish in chili oil. Their seafood fried rice is also very tasty. I have eaten here a lot of times and I have never run into any problems with them before.
The experience was kind of "meh". First the service was not in tune with our perusing of the interesting and extensive menu. What I mean is that we had barely sat down when our server came by with water we weren't offered tea and asked if we were ready to order. We weren't. When we had decided we called her over. We were looking for vegetarian food and had to explain "no meat, no shrimp, no fish, no oyster sauce". From their vegetable section I ordered Spicy Vegetables and Rice Noodles and my friend ordered Fried Broccoli and a side of rice. This was Tuesday after a long weekend. When the dishes arrived my spicy rice noodles and vegetables consisted of the weekend's left over, soggy noodles and the vegetables were a few shredded carrots, some pieces of green onion and a few bean sprouts. The "spicy" part was sadly lacking as there was really none of that satisfying spicy heat that I've been looking for since I've moved to Victoria 12 years ago. My friend's broccoli was just that, a plate full of stir-fried broccoli. Fortunately, it was very nice cooked with a nice balance of crispiness and melt in your mouth feel. It was also nicely seasoned with garlic and ginger. The service was pretty indifferent and we had to sit and wait for our bill while the whole time listening to loud Chinese pop music which, like most pop music was not soothing dinner music. Having said all that I still feel the place had promise and might go back on a weekend night when the "A" team might be on the job and the food a bit fresher.
If you’re looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, this isn’t it. Lazily prepared food that’s not only flavourless but also gave me the runs after I got home. Terrible value too but I wouldn’t go back here regardless.
Awesome. great new to me flavours. Good service despite my staying past closing. Seemingly authentic based on some of the very non-western menu items. Go for them if you are brave, but there's plenty to please a wimpy western palate yet still provide adventure. I ate the cumin beef and the hunan eggplant and both were to die for. Atmosphere is ultra modern yet comfortable. Private karaoke and dining rooms are an interesting option. Prices are high if you are expecting cheap chinese food, but the food quality is also high. Highly recommended.
The food tasted good. But it's not the bestest food in the whole city to be charged $19 before taxes for just a bowl of noodles and little bits of chicken. When I saw the price I figured there would be some sides of veges since that was a ridiculous amount of money for JUST noodles and small chicken bits. There are other Chinese places that serves as they charge and tastes good too, so I am just gonna take my business there. Never ordering again even though it tasted good but not worth the price AT ALL. Way way way too expensive.
