Important Note to all Families with Children -nnThe pool is rented out for private swimming lessons at 4pm onward. We were pushed out of the pool at 4pm sharp. I tried to take my kids swimming this afternoon only to find out the hotel rents the pool out to others. This seems completely unethical if you think about it. Hotel guests are paying to stay in the hotel and expect to use the pool.. in return the hotel rents it out to others and charges them as well ! This hotel is double charging people for their pool.nnTerrible experience ! Checking in was painful. Seems to be untrained staff and lack of staff. Nothing appears clean. Bed sheets were dirty and were obviously not washed from last guest. No towels in the room, which caused us a trip down to the front desk. No ice bucket in room which caused another trip down. No soap in bathroom.. again another trip! Coffee was absolutely the worst I’ve had in any hotel… bring your own coffee! They only gave us one room key… so again another trip to the front desk. This hotel is barely functioning! I do not suggest staying here. Lastly, the breakfast was not nearly as good as the Holliday express we stayed at in Edmonton the week prior.
Super disappointed in our room, you can tell they have at least updated the rooms with renovation’s which was nice but the rooms were disgusting. Nothing is being cleaned properly in this place and it’s gross! We checked in after driving over an hour to get here go to use the washroom and there’s literally someone else’s pee sitting on the toilet seat! How disgusting. When we complained all they did was come do a quick clean, so quick he didn’t even realize he also missed the toothpaste stain on the counter from the previous people as well.. not only that there was food crumbs all over the carpet, stains on the chairs & long black hairs all over the bathroom. The windows haven’t been cleaned properly and it looked like someone was laying or sitting on the bed before we checked in. Don’t think the bedding was clean at all! Since we were there for only one night we stayed but we will NOT be back. I am NOT happy with our stay.. no ice bucket, none of the vending machines work. Went to get breakfast and there was nothing to eat when we came down so don’t count on that.. We ended up checking out as early as we could so we could go get real food & go home and shower as we just felt so dirty. So disappointed..
Spent a few nights with my family for vacation. It seems like there is upgrade to the suite. My room was looking even better than what is on there website.nBreakfast variety was good, staff friendly.nThe kids love the pool and water slide.nWe will definitely visit again.
CONSIDER OTHER OPTION SUGGESTED BELOWnI have stayed in many Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express and Suites/IHG hotels over the years for work and personal travel. Due to the poor customer service and the complete lack of empathy and understanding of management at the Lake Fraser/ Calgary South location, I am now completely turned off from IHG Hotels despite being a Platinum member. Hotels like this erode trust in the IHG name.nnBooked a room for one night using IHG App. Stopped for a meal a few hours prior to check in. Unfortunately, unknown to me that meal had some cross contamination that triggered severe allergic reaction have a shellfish allergy among others requiring medical attention. With parts of face and neck swollen and feeling nauseated and sick to stomach, I had to immediately abort my plans. You know it's bad when random little kids point and stare and ask what happened to your face.nnAs soon as I was able to that same afternoon, I called and cancelled my appointments explaining what transpired. With the exception of this hotel, all other places empathized and understood my predicament and allowed me to rebook. This hotel did not care and General Manager said I would be charged still. Called IHG as well. IHG staff were understanding and directly asked the General Manager R.D to reconsider and issue a refund. The General Manager told IHG they would ask Director. As per the General Manager no refund would be issued based on that discussion.nnAs per IHG they cannot do anything else except consider the case and other complaints about the hotel when deciding if to renew their contract. Given that hotels pay to use IHG banner, I am not convinced they would be strongly motivated to step up and treat customers better.nnIf you read to this point and you still need IHG hotel in this area suggest instead Holiday Inn & Suites CALGARY SOUTH CONFERENCE CENTRE on BlackfootTrail which is different. Stayed there for two weeks in March 2024 for work/training trip. The management and staff at that location and rooms I got were amazing! Very accommodating and understanding of customer needs. Went out of their way to communicate regularly and ensure experience continues to be positive.nIf only I had taken time to read reviews prior to booking at Lake Fraser location, I would have booked at the Blackfoot Trail location instead. Was busy and booked quickly on App. Learned lesson the hard way. Feel robbed and very disappointed.
The room we stayed in had a bad smell, kind of like cigarettes in the rug. When I asked the front desk about it they said they would spray something for the smell and said it was paint? There was only 1 large towel and 2 smaller towels in our room for showering, when I asked house keeping for large towels they gave us 2 more small towels and most of them seemed to be falling apart ripping on the sides. None had hotel logo on them like other holiday inns. The face cloths and one of my pillows had stains on them. My mother in law over heard someone maybe manager telling the house keepers to only give small towels as they were 'running low' on large towels. Barely any towels in the pool as well and never seemed to be restocked, my kids and husband came back to the room soaked.nFront desk lady also seemed like I was asking alot of her when I went to get an extra roll of tissue, and when I got change another time the lady did not know what my toonie was and had a hard time counting my change 2.50?nBreakfast itself was good and kitchen staff were working hard to restock when it got empty, but they served turkey sausage all the 4 days we stayed there lolnAlso the business computer and printer were not working. I was in town for business and my home printer was down so I was relying on the hotel for printing my documents. Over all our stay was disappointing
