"Italian influenced eatery & bar in James Bay Victoria, located at the Oswego Hotel. Chef Josh Cocca and cocktail/wine maestro Mark Roeric host Victoria's newest addition to the dining scene. Classic Italian inspired dishes, influenced by Vancouver Islands bounty of family farm grown vegetables and meats, an extensive cocktail and wine list, all compliment a newly furnished room in the Oswego Hotel."

Really enjoyed the pasta. Great texture on the noodles. Creative sauces and accompaniments. Tasty dessert. Wish the bread was grilled/warm. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and everything was well-made.
Very good portions, delicious, and the bacon was HUGE and cooked to perfection! Seriously, if you like bacon, then try theirs. The local made bread was a little too crunchy, but she explained that the bread company was concerned the bread was overbaked. I think they should have used different bread because serving it today was mouth painful. I am sure it has been better other days, but today was quite rough. Was overall still worth the brunch. And our waitress was pleasant, fun, perfect and on the hosting ball.
Did not know the restaurant was in a hotel and had concerns as many hotel restaurants are not great. The restaurant is quite small and more unfounded concerns. Our server was a pleasure and even with what appeared to be a fairly limited menu the dishes all sounded good so we ordered. Well everything was fantastic I had the skate and the flavors were simply amazing. Our shared appetizers were all terrific as was desert. The best dinner out we had in our week in Victoria. So Bar 500 is a hidden gem that should be put on your list.
Came in for New Years brunch. Advertised as a buffet for 39.00 Got there and found out it was only 2 coursed for 39.00 1st course was supposed to be bakey plate and fruit. I received a single scone. My partners chicken and waffles was good. I ordered the crab cake Benny. When the food came I was presented with the wrong order. I had wait 15 minutes for the correct item to be brought. The Benny was unseasoned and bland and the hollandaise was broken. We watch two other tables walk out as one if them wasn't impressed with menu and the other was upset that there order was not coming out The breakfast was not worth 90.00. Next time we're going to a real breakfast place.
We visited in the evening for the Dine around town menu. The mushroom chowder was amazing and creamy. We had the sablefish entree which consisted of outstanding different flavours. I hope they consider adding the sablefish dinner to their permanent menu. Parking: The hotel is surrounded by local-only parking.
Just don't go. Especially for brunch where you will get a condescending waitress who will give you a fake smile and then have you wait 40 minutes for your first course, which was two croissants, a fruit plate, and a yogurt parfait. All things should be pre-made and should come out of the kitchen in a matter of minutes. When you try to check in, you get quickly dismissed with this waitress you get a dismissive "your's will be plated in just a second. Which it wasn't. Long story short, ending up having to walk out. Oh and there was a total of three tables, and at the time, we seemed to of been here only one. Oh, went to Belleville's around the corner and had an excellent experience. Just go there.
A hidden gem, located in the lobby of the Oswego Hotel. The seasonal menu is short and beautifully executed. Exceptional craft cocktails to boot. We dined here three times: twice for dinner and once for brunch while on our recent trip to Victoria. In a city full of well-reviewed restaurants, this dining spot is wonderful, and beyond reasonably priced for such a fabulous experience. Front of house service was always on-point, manager Mark was memorable and the Chef nails every dish coming out of his kitchen. 5 stars all the way!
This was our third visit to Bar 500. Previously had two breakfast meetings there. The breakfast menu is not extensive but what they do, they do well. This was a jazz/dinner evening which was great. The jazz really enhanced the dining room ambience. The food is good hubby had a melt in your mouth lamb shank and I had a delicious mushroom pasta dish . The servers are really friendly. I felt as though I was a member of the Oswego family as we were so well looked after. We enjoyed the jazz singer too. If you're looking for a cosy and intimate setting, Oswego Bar 500 is perfect.
The food was delicious, the waiter messed up something in the order so we had food brought to us that were wrong, and then got the wrong bill. They were all friendly, resolved the problems, but we did wait 40 minutes for our food. Still recommend going.
Booked 3 days prior and confirmed with them a day prior. Arrived and nothing was ready. They finally got a table ready and did not see anyone after we sat down for 5 minutes. Just got up and left and got some grub somewhere else. Perhaps it's the "LEFT COAST" way.
