Nice old place in the heart of James bay 10 min walk from down town no line up big and roomy ordered a full candaron breakfast first bite amazing. Tastes like home made bread vary happy with the size of the breakfast. The service is good. If you like a place for breakfast without a line up this is your place parking is easy too
Can't say enough great things about this hotel! Immaculately clean. Roy at the desk was a gem. Dinner in the bar was great with friendly conversation, and they accommodated us when we said we needed our breakfast to be quick. Great location to visit the stunning Beacon Hill Park. Rooms are small, but that's to be expected for an historic hotel like this. Highly recommend!
One of the best breakfasts for the best price I've had in years. And all of the eggs Benny's were phenomenal. Also, the various servers each of the 3 times I was there were absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to go back.
This is the second time I've stayed here. I love it, the rooms are small and still use the old style hot water heating radiator so if it's cold in there it will take a bit to heat up. There is no AC so I'd expect it can get hot in the summer. The hotel has a colourful history and is over 100 years old. The hallways are adorned with Emily Carr Paintings she died there also the hotel supposedly is one of the most haunted in Canada although I haven't experienced anything while there. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you're into older style hotels that aren't just another boring place then this place is for you.
The service was exceptional, courtesy, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was delivered hot and very tasty. The atmosphere was quiet enough that we could talk without raising our voices. The decor was very pleasing. Reasonable pricing. Overall a very good experience, we will definitely highly recommend this restaurant / pub and return often.
Good little breakfast. There was only one cook on sunday which made the waiting time a little longer. The staff were extremely welcoming.
Ate in the pub but it's the same menu, I believe. I had a single club. It was on rather small bread slices. Nice bacon, deli turkey bleh, lettuce and a processed cheese slice. A note to the kitchen, club sandwiches are ordered by traditionalists. A club uses sliced, roast turkey and tomato. They do not contain cheese. A club with cheese and no tomato is not a club. Please don't mess with tradition.
I have been going to the JBI for 5 years but in Victoria for 10 years. Not sure what the hold up was but glad I stopped in the first time. An excellent comfort food menu with probably the least expensive menu for drinks and food. The service has always been amazing. Big shout out to Eric who seems to be always working and serving. Just a great spot to hang out and chill over drinks and a meal.
I loved the atmosphere of this place, most customers were couples and the elderly on a Sunday morning. The decorations of the restaurant is on point and the blue paint made me feel nice, fresh, and awake when dining here for breakfast I kinda sound cheezy but it's true!!! Most of the time when I review places, one of the things I consider is the state of their washroom and the women's washroom here was spacious, clean, and had 2 mirrors and it wasn't the stall type of washroom you'd find in most restaurants, only one person can use it at a time. The food was okay. My companion had the Smoked Salmon Benedict which comes with hash browns and I ordered a combination of sides because: one, I wasn't that hungry and two, didn't find a menu item special enough to try; so I asked if I could only order side orders and the lovely waitress told me that I can! So I ordered 2 eggs which you can have in any way you want for $2.75, guacamole for $1.00, whole wheat toast for $3.00 and hash browns for $3.00. The hash browns were not good honestly, they were greasy and not fresh. My companion complained about the hash browns too. The service was great and the prices were reasonable. They did have juices but when I asked if they are fresh, I was told that they are not, so I ordered coffee and asked if they have any cow milk alternatives soy or almond milk for example and unfortunately they didn't have those either which sucks because I'm intolerant to cow milk and so are a lot of other people and also vegans! Lastly, we had a 15% off because we stayed at the Inn overnight which is why we tried this restaurant in the first place! So, in short, I'd recommend this place for one time dining but would probably not be back myself the next time I'm in Victoria.
Allergy friendly peanut/nut/pea. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.
