The hotel is clean and in a great location, within walking distance of almost everything.nnUnfortunately, there were several disappointments that lowered my rating from a 4 to a 3.nnThe hotel lists cable TV and a telephone as room amenities, but neither is actually provided. Instead of cable, you have to connect your own phone or device to access YouTube or any other streaming services you subscribe to. There is also no phone in the room, so if you need room service or assistance, you have to either return to the front desk or use the phone located by the elevator.nnOur first room had extremely poor soundproofing. We could hear the people next door as if they were in our room. After moving to another room, we discovered we had no control over the temperature. After waiting 45 minutes for maintenance, he went into the bathroom ceiling to open the vent, but that left us with a constant buzzing noise that we had to endure for the next two nights.nnThe room itself was a good size, and the location is excellent, but I don't feel the experience justified the $330-per-night price tag.nnParking was an additional charge, and even after paying for it at check-in, we had to spend over 15 minutes driving around the garage looking for an available space. If guests are paying for parking, there should be enough spaces available.nnAnother thing that stood out was the apparent lack of staffing. I also found the wine vending machines by the elevators to be a rather tacky feature for a hotel at this price point.nnOverall, if you're simply looking for a clean place to sleep in a great location and don't mind paying over $300 a night, this hotel may suit your needs. However, if you expect the amenities and service that typically come with that price, you may leave disappointed.
We had a great stay at Hotel Chateau Laurier! The location was great - it was an easy walk to all of the shops, restaurants, and streets in Old Quebec, but on a quieter side street so it was not loud at night. The rooms were very clean. The service was great, especially the valet. There were quite a few bus tours that stayed at the hotel, which was no problem for us, but check in can get very busy at certain times. Overall, highly recommend. We would stay here again the next time we visit Quebec City.
A superb hotel overlooking the historic Plains of Abraham. The rooms are elegant and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and professional. All at a very reasonable price. If you're visiting Quebec City, there's no better place to stay.
We arrived from overseas and saw that there was a huge stage outside the hotel with loud music. The hotel had not informed us that there would be a big festival right outside their hotel. When we arrived we asked how long the music would last and they told us it would stop at 11pm. However, there were still loud afterparties right outside our window until long after 1am, so that we couldn’t sleep for hours. The windows have very poor sound insulation. You can also hear a lot of traffic. We asked if we could get a partial refund or at least free breakfast, but they only offered us free parking for one night and were very dismissive. They gave us another room for the second night but now we have a big and loud engine for the AC system right outside our window which is also very annoying and nerve-wrecking.nnDefinitely not a hotel if you need a good nights sleep and some peace.
Great location, quick check in and check out, very friendly and helpful staff. Our room in section B a bit small but very clean. Small but comfortable bed.nWe also enjoyed the valet parking.nElevator for the B section is still a problem. We stayed at this same hotel a few years back and one of the two elevators for Section B was not working properly and this time around one of the two elevator was out of order for all of our 4 nights stay. I'm wondering why the problem still exist.
