We love ve fresh bakery and I pass everyday going to work and I can't stop because there is a line in the morning, then I pass one day earlier to see how good it is. Then I saw they are making pizza I said wow I want a pizza too and we love it and I will come back to try others. But two star is because they don't have the bread cutter or slicer, and the bread or donuts or cinnamon is not that you WOW this is the best place I can eat, and very expensive and not worth it. But the pizza for now it's one of my favorite in Victoria.
Not usually one to write reviews. I've grown up with my parents owning a French bakery and man, this bread/croissants and pastries are out of this world!
They've added a 2.6% surcharge for credit cards, which is surprising because their prices already seemed quite high. Breads are good and authentic sourdough. Pastries seem to be a mix for me, the croissants always seem good but the danishes don't always impress me tho I buy them anyway because I love danishes.
Always delicious! Today we enjoyed fresh pretzels and a raspberry white chocolate scone. They were very yummy! There's a reason they always have a line up!
Great rustic olive bread today. And simply lovely pizza. Easy walk to Bamfield Park where there is a picnic table under the trees. Also a table in the children's playground :.
We like seeking out great bakeries when we travel, and Fry's was on our list in Victoria. We bought the focaccia bread, crossant, pretzel, and breakfast in bed. Everything was awesome. I particularly loved the breakfast in bed, and the focaccia. We came back again on a Saturday around 2:30 pm, and the shop was pretty much empty. So if you want to have choices, come early. Cash or debit only.
Just a ok bakery. We tried Cinnamon roll, breakfast croissant, filled donut, sourdough bread Cinnamon roll: just ok cause very dry, doesn’t taste from the morning and quite expensive Breakfast croissant: best item, good croissant dough and tasty. Ok price Filled donut: very dry but taste ok, pricey Sourdough bread: ok but same as previous items, very dry like old bread. As a bakery fan I felt pretty disappointed by this place cause I heard good things about them, I guess the marketing of one customer at a time in the store and creating line up outside is working but Victoria has better bakery.
So good! Always a big line at this place, but worth the wait. I want to try the pizza next, only gave this a 4 because there isn’t a lot of seating available.
I LOVE this bakery, and it has quickly become one of the biggest highlights of moving to Vic West. The morning walk, the lovely lineup where you can chat amongst locals and neighbours, waiting to order the absolutely most delicious pain au chocolates and bread I’ve ever eaten in my life and as a previous flight attendant, I’ve eaten many. The croissants literally transport me to the cobblestone streets of Paris, the puffy flakiness and the tops, almost caramelized and slightly crunchy, offer a natural sweetness and enjoyable crispy layer with a solid amount of delicious, gooey sometimes still warm! real chocolate inside. This is hands down the best bakery I’ve ever been to, and I’m grateful it exists. I look forward to trying the pizza!
Be aware, they will push to you stale bread for a full price, I could not get a knife into the loaf of German Rye. Eventually, I cut the loaf into half’s but there was no smell of freshness. Bread was stale, probably left over from last Saturday, This happened on Wednesday, Aug 10th.
