A budget friendly chain grocery store located close to two busy intersections. The location is spacious, clean, and well stocked. They cary a wide variety of products at a competitive price. The location also sells alcohol and the section was well stocked, too. Checked out was efficient- self checkout option was added advantage. Produce items didn't look very fresh, and customer service can certainly be improved. The location has ample parking spots.
I was shopping at Food Basics yesterday and noticed old, spoiled meat on display. The color looked off, and there was a noticeable smell even just walking by the section. This raised serious concerns about the store's food quality standards and overall freshness checks. Customers expect safe, fresh food when they shop, and it’s alarming to see spoiled meat still available for sale. I hope the management takes this seriously and improves their quality control procedures to prevent this in the future.
I went at around 8:30 PM today, Monday Oct 21, 2024 and I went to lane 2, right beside the self checkout. Since I had a lot of things in my hands, I thought going to the cashier would be better. This lady at the lane was helping a customer, and she was very friendly with him. The moment she sees me I’m a brown person, she immediately changes her expression. Doesn’t even say hi. Scans my items, and literally throws them on the lane with that annoyed expression on her already ugly face. She then continues asking me rudely how I’d be paying and talking to the other customer with a smile. When I’m done paying, this racist woman throws my receipt at me and politely asks the other gentleman whether he wants his receipt or not.nRight behind me there was another customer, who was not brown, and this racist woman goes on greeting her with a smile. Seeing my brown skin, this woman immediately assumes maybe I’m Indian or whatever her geographic knowledge is. Firstly, I’m not Indian, I’m Bengali. Secondly, so what if I were Indian? Aren’t Indians humans? This woman is super racist, and I’ll go about spreading awareness about this racist employee at this store. She needs to learn manners.
Clean, bright, well stocked. This store has a wide variety of food stuff, as well as a well stocked alcohol section. For me the real stand out thing in this store is their self checkouts! I'm alone at home these days so I never buy more than one bag of food at a time so self Checkout just makes sense! But I've never seen any like the ones these folks have. You can actually self Checkout with alcohol, which is surprisingly awesome! But beyond that, you can self Checkout, and pay in cash! Bills and/or coins which is amazing! The store is well organized and easy to navigate.
There was a total of 3 employees at this store. 2 were on cash, 1 was the manager eating chips. 1 of the cash register attendants were literally on their phone while attending a customer.nShowing pictures here of why I bring up the employee count. A previous stocker chose to just leave countless frozen goods ice cream and ice desserts just on the floor outside of the freezers. When touched they were no longer cold and did not show ice. Don’t buy ice treats from here for a bit unless you love refrozen goodies and ice crystals in your deserts.
