Don’t come here for produce if you want reliability. Prices are decent. Staff is mostly ok, but a couple are very dismissive and rude, one of which I think is a manager. Also, is the escalator ever going to be back on service??? Or the human shit smear on the wall in the parking lot hallway every going to be clean??? Anyways, not high hopes for this place.
Normally this is one of the better food basics in the entire chain as far as I'm concerned. this time however the parking lot was dirty, the area towards store entrance very dirty with litter everywhere, all of the shopping carts were locked because they don't want people stealing them. then I go in the store it's dirty outside the entrance just inside the entrance and there's no shopping carts this is a perennial problem at the store it's ridiculous.
No idea how this place hasn't been shut down. Shelves are always filled with expired products. Improper storage of perishables and lots of damaged leaky packaging. Clearly no quality assurance happens here at all. Don't shop here unless you want to get sick.nJust because you operate in a low income area does not mean you are allowed to poison people.
I always go to this location and I did not have any negative experience in the past, but on December 8, 2024 I experienced some dishonesty while purchasing some pomegranate which were on sales in their December 5-11, 2024 flyer for the city of Toronto. The cashier would not sell us the pomegranate based on the store flyer, but a different price which they posted in front of the product. She made some excuses which did not make any sense to me, saying that you should search for the postal code where this store is located. Well I live in Parkdale, so the Landsdown and Dupont's Food basic is the one showing for my postal code and it is not that I showed her a different city's flyer. The weird part of this interaction was that there were two products, blueberries and pomegranate on sales in the same page of the flyer for that specific date, but the blueberry price had no issue if you were to purchase it, on the other hand the price for pomegranate were changed in the store and did not match the flyer. Anyway I went to Fresh Co on Dupont and they price matched the pomegranate for me. I shouldn't have written this long message, because of only $1 dollar difference in the price of a product and I did not mean it for that purpose. I did it to share my thought on dishonesty and it doesn't matter the scale of it. We all make mistakes, but we fix it. We do not defend it or stand by it.
