Huge thanks to the DNA team for helping me back into the gym! Working with me to create a program around my sports injuries, clean and free machines with lots of staff to help and advise! A great experience having not been in the gym for 10+ years. Very affordable as well!!!
If you love lifting, this place is great. Every old school Hammer Strength and Cybex machine that other gyms have forgotten about. Never too busy, lots of space, tons of racks. Dumbbell selection isn't great and the cardio machines could be updated, but I spent a lot of years enduring GoodLife, as nice as they are, way too busy, too corporate and not nearly enough weight machines. They are dominated by personal trainers, you can barely get a good lift in. This place is like heaven for people who just want to workout. It's a gem.
Alright gym, some the equipment is outdated, but works very well. After a bit of a misunderstanding the gym manager straightened things out very quickly and resolved all outstanding issues. No hassle, just a quick resolution.
My new review: They asked me to renew in June and offered me the "deal of a lifetime". Now that everything has come together, the staff were well aware that they were shutting down but still got me and countless others to extend our memberships. Disgusting. My old review: Friendly staff, gym isn't too crowded, clean, and a variety of machines to choose from. I made a good move by joining this gym.
This location has some of the best customer service compared to the community centers and the big gym that I've been to. The personal trainers here are also very friendly and accommodating if you're looking to sign up for those services, I would do it here just because of the fantastic service. This club has a pretty solid selection of cardio equipment spread out over 27,000 square feet with a generally well-maintained assortment of the standards. On the weights side, they have machines ranging from the standard pulley-type machines of a number of flavors, to the more intermediate Smith/Hammer style machines, to a pretty standard selection of free weight equipment. If you're looking to attend classes here, it does get quite busy during the after work rush, so make sure you put your name down on the sign up sheet when you head into the gym. The instructors are great and you see fit people here to keep you motivated. They have plenty lockers, the change rooms and showers are pretty clean and well-maintained. It is still a great location to sneak in a workout before work, at lunch, or after work.
Overall the gym is the best in North York. It is always well maintained, clean and safe. When you come here, you simply get whatever you came here for. Wide range of weight lifting machines, cardio machines and abundance of diverse free weights for effective workouts are just what all heavy lifters are happy about here. Besides, the staff is extremely friendly and always there to help. Managers are all professionals and serve to the best interest of the members. I never had issues with membership payments; even if there were minor incidents, managers came up with perfect and timely solutions right away. However, most of all what I like about my gym is its outstanding yoga classes! Actually, DNA offers the highest quality yoga for a mere membership fee! Not all the yoga studios in the city can boast that their yoga is that good. DNA Yoga sessions are offered four times a week, I attend those that are held during the week. The instructor is impeccable! She teaches iyengar yoga on Fridays that is a very sophisticated style that gives opportunities for those new to yoga start their learning journey from basics with building confidence and perfect alignment in the poses. Her classes during the week is a perfect chance to learn how to flow. She is always preparing interesting unique flows that she always adjusts according to the the level of the students. Thus, even newcomers are always welcomed and taken good care of. She’s very passionate about her teaching and a very attentive instructor! It’s been four years since I joined her classes, and thanks to God, she’s always there and never giving up on us. I bet, the best yoga in the city is at DNA and I would never think of changing my gym because I love the quality as opposed to quantity!
People love training here! People here are very tight and have a good bond with one another. A very seldom thing to see in a fitness club these days. Besides that, an abundance of useful and great equipment is offered and overall this gym is a great club to be a part of.
I have been a member for the past 6months and I love my gym! Not only have I lost 20pounds but I feel GREAT!!! I have been a member at many other gyms but DNA is by far the best! All the friendly staffs have made me feel at home and I recommand joining this gym to anyone!
Staff are nice and helpful, but don't push PT on you. It has a lot of equipment and is never too busy. The equipment is older, but it all works, for the most part. Like anywhere, there is the occasional breakdown. Unlike at GoodLife, I've rarely had to wait for a machine or piece of equipment. Bathrooms are clean with large stalls. There is also a sauna. If you're used to the aesthetics of GoodLife, this gym might take some getting used to, but don't let that bother you. Overall, great value for the cost of a membership.
I have been a member of this gym for over 20 years and since DNA took ownership this facility has improved exponentially. Trainers are fabulous and the management team is exceptional. The DNA team is always friendly and willing to help out with nutritional or fitness questions or even a spot. Keep up the good work !
