It was my first visit to Dong Kee. My family and went there for dinner on Saturday night at around 8:00pm. The waiting time was quite long. The restaurant was full house and there was a very long queue of people in the hallway waiting to be seated. Their menu had a great variety. We ordered some of the famous dishes. They were very fresh and tasty. The price and portion were reasonable. The decor of the restaurant was nothing fancy but the food was very good. The service was considered acceptable in such a busy situation. It was nice that they offered us complimentary soup and dessert. Will go back to try their fresh seafood dishes next time.
July 5th - today when we walked in it wasn’t as busy compared to last time; service today was way better than last time. Everything we ordered came out in a timely manner and everything was delicious! Service is terrible. Definitely recommend making a reservation, but if your looking for good service or any service this is definitely not the place. Food was good, but the service is one of the worst service in GTA. Only accepts cash and debit. Different treatments for different tables, don’t expect to get free start up soup. Is it that hard to provide your customers with decent service…
With its wide selection of dishes, the restaurant, which serves Chinese cuisine, won't let you down. Despite not being authentically Chinese, the western fusion has improved the taste of the cuisine. The person who served us was quite amiable and professional, and the service was completed very quickly. The only criticism is that the floor and restroom should have been maintained clean.
Crispy sweet sour pork was more fried dough than meat. But overall cooking was good by Chinese restaurant standards. Does get crowded but they turn over tables pretty quick too.
HK style and restaurant. Some dishes are good, such as deep fried fish and sweet sour soup, but some just so so, such as sweet sour pork and beef fried noodles. Overall in average. You can find better choice in Markham
Amazing spot for authentic Cantonese fare with lots of “wok hei”. Prices are fair and the portions and quality of the food are top notch. My go-to items here are the sweet and sour pork, white cut poached chicken, and the satay beef chow mein. Lots of comments about issues with customer service but I’ve found them to be friendly and responsive. My only gripes are that the interior decor is really dated and that this place tends to be insanely busy even on weekdays so if you can, go outside of peak dining times.
We used to like this place a lot, we go so often before the Covid hit, today was an extreme appointment. The service has never been a good point of this restaurant, but the food quality could make it up. However, this time returning to give it a try, the service was horrible, the servers were so rude, they look really angry and upset serving customer. And the food quality is not as good as they used to be. Little note: the guy who takes care the checkout and bill does not wven have a manner to say thank you after we paid and tipped. The experience here so uncomfortable. Never come back
The restaurant is very busy despite there is a basement level with lots of tables too. Steam fish, half chicken, egg plant stew are all good. Unlike other newly opened ones, the price here is acceptable. Also the volume is great too so you can bring leftovers home to enjoy.
Uhhhh not much to say. Food tastes good but the service isn't great. The booth we had was dirty and we found a random piece of onion. The bathroom is definitely not up to standard.Food: 4/5
One of my favourite Cantonese restaurants! Their dishes are sooo classic, prices are reasonable.
