Amazing experience. The museum's collection of historic artifacts is vast with many unique and significant items. The displays are a fascinating presentation of world history and Canada's place in it. There's many clever dioramas, and a deeply moving , philosophical and emotional writing style of the story boards throughout the museum. Some displays will bring you to tears for their sensitive, realistic presentation of significant, tragic events and moving tributes to many brave individuals.nHelpful hint- the basement has a large, excellent collection of tanks, heavy weapons, and military vehicles on display. If that's your primary interest, go there first, before the exhibits. We found the main exhibits take at least six hours to thoroughly enjoy, leaving little time to enjoy this collection.nOverall, this is a first rate museum experience. We were so entertained and riveted by the museum we forgot to stop for lunch!nFinally, there's convenient parking on site. Overall, this is a,wonderful, informative and emotional visit. A great deal of money and effort has been spent to build this huge, beautiful building and the displays. Its one of the best museums I've ever seen.nHighly recommended.
Went for a day trip to Ottawa with my 15 year old during his Fall break. What a blast! We loved this huge museum, very well laid out with a large amount of artefact from a lot of different wars and eras. Fun Fact: this is the first museum that encourages us to touch some of the artefacts!nnIt takes a lot of time to go through every bit of details and information available. We just didn’t have time to do it all. This is definitely a museum to go back to!
I brought my child to see the museum in April and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. It covered conflicts throughout Canada’s history with many artefacts, interactive displays, and other such items. It was not very full around opening time though filled up by the time we left. My child had a lot of fun. Also, past military members have free admission. I’d have added more photos, but the better ones have my child in them.
It was very busy when I visited today but the outside armoured vehicle demonstration was amazing. The museum is worth the trip to visit. Part of our Canadian history. So many lives are lost in wars. We will always remember....
Very interesting Museum. Its actually huge inside. A lot of sections and the most exciting one in my opinion is the Tanks section. They have a number of huge tanks different shapes and uses it was amazing. The way there was interactive exhibitions was very unique. There is this part where you can what type of soldier you could have been the time by measuring your height and feet type. It's a very nice site seeing if you are visiting Ottawa
