Brothers Food and Wine

The first few times my husband and I went to Brothers we thought it was a wonderful restaurant with great staff. The food was excellent. However, as time went on it feels like the quality of food went down. Yesterday we went for dinner and I can say that the food was underwhelming and over salted. We got four dishes from the menu, only one was executed well (trout was really excellent). The rest I would not order again. The bottle of wine was truly underwhelming and not worth the money paid for it. Overall we had a disappointing experience. That being sad the people working there are really nice. I am sad to say that we probably will not be going back, which is a shame as the place started out with being one of the cozier and higher quality spots in Yorkville.

Sweetbreads with apple & spice braised cabbage was about the best sweetbreads I have ever eaten. Lovely mix of soft, crunch, heat and acidity. Quail was succulent and flavourful, Brussel sprouts were halved and with the roasted chestnuts, the perfect combination. Simple and well executed . My buddy had a magnificent and very large pork chop - loved the wine selection too. A fairly large list (considering the size of the place) with plenty of interesting things to drink. Pam took well care of us as we sat at the bar. It won't be so long before I return.

Nice restaurant. Great service. The food was simple but well executed and tasty. The ricotta and spinach pasta dish was excellent and the best dish we ate tonite. The trout was quiet good as well.

Ambiance and service were good. Food was underwhelming, both the appetizers and the mains. Appetizer would've been better if it was slightly heated rather than completely cold such as the leek and the beets. Decent size portions, you can probably get away with 2 apps and one main or 1 app and two mains between 2 people if you aren't super hungry.

I was here for a Visa Infinite tasting menu. The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. Well seasoned and thoughtful choices on the menu. Nice contrast with the rumbling of the subway as it passes below. Really good food and cool ambiance! Will definitely have to go back.
