Got the jerk chicken. It was very flavourful and well sauced. It was spicy with hints if sweet. My portion was a small and was very big! Service was very kind and cheerful. Excited to try the patties as I've heard good things about them. Note: some menu items are only on special days like oxtail stew Saturdays and chickpea curry Thursdays
We went there for the food and, oh boy, it was tasty and copious. We tried cod fritters, ackee and saltfish salted cod addicts, rejoice!, curry goat, jerk chicken, rice and beans and patties. Everything is scrumptious at this family owned joint. Caribbean grocery store & takeout restaurant. Small but dine-in too. Lovely people doing honest cooking. My favorite kind of place.
I’ve passed this market before but finally stopped in to try them out; I was not disappointed. I had a small ackee and saltfish with provisions and it was delicious also available with rice. A nice home-cooked kind of meal, slightly spicy and flavourful. I’ve heard that the curry chicken is also good, but if you’re unfamiliar with ackee or provisions ask them about it and consider trying something new. I will be back!
Absolutely love this place! We've had the jerk chicken meal several times; it's become our go-to. The Chicken is always fresh, perfectly spiced, cooked well and portions are generous. Tried the Fried chicken for the first time yesterday and WOW, it's just tastes like home. We always add rice + peas and a side of large coleslaw because I LOVE coleslaw and love theirs even more. The cabbage is sliced thin and dressed just right. There's a cute grocery section as well where you can purchase an array of Caribbean seasonings, hot sauces, beverages, produce, etc. and oh! frozen Michidean Patties! Apart from all the goodies they offer, it's a family run business. Thankfully, everyone is kind and professional making you feel more welcomed. From the outside it doesn't seem like anything special, but once inside, you're in for a real treat! Thank you Blessed Love for being part of the Leslieville neighbourhood and keep up the awesomeness!!!
Only picked up a spicy beef patty while in the area but really liked it. Seasoning on point, good amount of spice and flakey pastry. Will definitely be back to try their full dishes.Food: 5/5
First time visiting at lunch. The friendly lady assumingly the owner? was very kind and welcoming. She recommended me their jerk chicken. I can't really take spicy foods and she gave me some sweet sauce just in case. I brought a friend the next day and she came out and said hello. How nice! They also have a well-stocked inventory on different spices and other products. Definitely will stop by again.
I am so happy BlessedLove opened up in our area. Staff are amazing and every food we got there have been so wonderful. We’ve tried their patties beef extra spicy is my favourite, delicious!, plantains, jerk chicken my partner’s favourite, and my personal favourite - the best fried chicken in town. They are also so generous with their rice and peas which is also very very goood. When you go there, don’t forget to ask them for their homemade “hot” hot sauce on the side. I love my heat and their hot sauce is hands down pure heat, no sour - just how they should be. Mmmmm! Thinking of those scotch bonnets right now. Can’t recommend them enough, they just might be my favourite take out restaurant in the area. I love you, BlessedLove!!!
Came in for lunch on a Sunday. We had the Oxtail with Rice and Peas small and the Jerk Chicken medium with Rice and Peas pictured. Generous portions and outstanding slow cooked flavour. A neighbourhood gem, this one.Food: 5/5
I love BlessedLove and the front people. It’s great to have an authentic Caribbean grocery/takeout store in Riverside. I gave a low rating for the food, which is not quite fair because this rating is based on one disappointing meal. I ordered the escoveitched fish. The sides were truly tasty and authentic. The fish was crispy and delicious. Why the low score? Because there were more pin bones per bite than meat. Either BL ought to find a better fishmonger such as neighbours Hooked Inc., which wholesales or the cook should learn to pull out the pin bones. After discarding the bones, there was little left. The plate cost $22, which might have been right for 3 bony fish, or 2, with the bones removed. I will try other things here, but not the fish, unless they change their ways. Respect.
GO HERE. Patties, jerk chicken, and fried chicken were amazing - as was the service! The space is casual, and very nice. The small shop section offers authentic imported food products, drinks, and other items.
