Called in to get my order ready ahead of time. No regrets. Beef pepper soup. Well prepared with good temperature. Naija setting and soft musicRecommended dishesGoat Meat Pepper Soup, New Chicken Pepper Soup
Lovely and filling. The vibe is nice too with music on the patio! I got the egusi soup with pounded yam. The service is great too. I don't understand the low reviews. I recommend this place to everyone and to try some African food because the taste is very unique, and Toronto needs to maintain that diversity. Edit: I read other reviews that said they waited an hour. I waited for 10 minutes and I saw Uber drivers coming in too and picking up their food without waiting.
On a sunny summer afternoon while waiting for friends I stumbled upon this joint and wow! I've never eaten Nigerian foods before but after a brief banter with another diner and helo from my waiter I was ordering up some puff rice and spicey chicken. Let's just say... It was damn good meal, which I washed down with their fruit juice. Not only did I finish up my lunch there but I was swiftly joined by passers-by and then my friend as we hung out on their patio for hrs laughing and enjoying our meals and friendship. Great staff, amazing atmosphere and stellar food. Shared meal for two, 2 juice, 2 sodas $56 + tip. Not bad.
I mean this review well, and my goal is for them to improve. The ambience is cool. Nice environment. You can eat indoors or outdoors. The decoration is beautiful, and the music is nice. However, my experience wasn’t pleasant. A waiter didn’t welcome me, and no one was there to ask for help. When I finally got a waiter after standing at the counter for almost 20 mins, he seemed very unenthusiastic. His body language was not welcoming. I understand that the place was full. But at least say “Sorry for the inconvenience” or “Please wait a while before we serve you”. Rather than keeping a customer waiting without anything. I was told the wait time was 30-35 minutes, but the food came 1 hour later I had to walk up to a waiter and restate my full order. No apologies or empathy. When a “celeb” came, you need to see how a waiter quickly went to attend to him. SMH ‍. The Peppered Turkey was OK, but the sauce taste was off. Puff puff was sweet but hard to chew. Egusi soup tasted OK, but the palm oil was “slapping”. Poundo was nice. Zobo was really sweet. Chapman was nice. I may come another time to see if there were any improvements based on my complaints.
Food was amazingggg! Sarah was such a pleasant staff! The atmosphere was good and the Naija Jamz was giving life!!! Highly recommend! Food: 5/5
Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to dine at this restaurant and it was a pleasure. The customer service was lovely, the food was great and was presented beautifully. The vibe and atmosphere was right on point. I will definitely be coming back very soon. I cannot wait to enjoy this place on the patio when the nice weather returns. Excellent job !!!
2nd time eating here and it was amazing!! Had the Egusi soup with pounded yam my favourite, pepper soup, fish and jollof rice. Just a heads up, the jollof rice was very smoky on this visit, so you may want for it to be less smoky. They also have Nigerian beers and a nice outdoor patio which makes for a really nice vibe. Would definitely go again!
The food was just okay. I got asun with fries, while my friends got grilled fish and jollof, and poundo and egusi. The egusi was the only dish slightly above average. For drinks, I had Chapman which was above average as well. My asun was pretty much stewed goat and it didn't taste fresh. I didn't like fries but not a lot of places get that right. The grilled fish could've done with more flavor and the jollof wasn't smoky or tasty like most of the reviews said. The egusi on the other hand was a very nice and a good egusi-efo ratio. If I come back here, I'll definitely order that.
Not welcoming barely even got a hello. Before I arriving I checked the menu online which turns out is different than the menu in the restaurant. Online I saw peppered beef with a few different rice options one being rice and peas and I could add coleslaw on the side. I ordered that the guy blankly and had no idea what rice and peas and coleslaw was and then just gave me a menu and said just point what you want. I order peppered beef and white rice. It cost me $25 very overpriced considering it was a small bowl of rice and a smaller bowl of beef. The rice was almost cold and the beef was very dry and tough to eat. Not only that before leaving and they tried to upsell more items on the menu because they said I needed something to go with my rice. But since I already paid $25 I said I wasn't going to spend more money. Was just very poor communication and awkward interaction at the restaurant and the food was overpriced and not very good and a very small portion for $25. Was still very hungry after eating it. Will not recommend this place.
Wow, I had the smoked, spicy rice and loved it! It’s one of the most interesting foods in Toronto, so full of personality. Will come back.Food: 5/5
