I'm new to Egyptian and Mediterranean cuisine so I was curious about this place tucked inside an office building. The food here made me change my mind about falafel, hummus and feta cheese. That's saying a lot, normally I dislike how dry falafel is, but I guess I never had good falafel. The falafel here is made-to-order and I got it piping hot, right out of the deep fryer. I ordered ahead of time, a little before 12. The sampler platter is soo delicious. Like, every part of it was like 10/10. Koshari was good too. The next time I go, I'll order one entree because ordering two was way too filling for me. A coworker of mine tried the falafel too, and said it was delicious and asked me to grab some the next time I go.
Hands down the best falafel I’ve ever had! These perfectly crispy yet fluffy, herby and aromatic discs of fried goodness are worth every penny! The beef gyro was flavorful too, and the koshari is definitely worth a try! The tomato sauce that comes with the koshari makes for an amazing flavor combo. Everything was made fresh to order, and the owners are super friendly and kind as well! Truly a hidden gem
Don’t be confused. Yes it is in an office building. Right on the first floor. You just walk to the back, you will see it. I am sure it’s a place that was originally set up for a quick breakfast/lunch spot for the workers of the building. I think because the food is great and the couple that work there are such good people it’s really become popular. I’ve only had Gyros and a wrap. They were both amazing. The price is great for lunch nowadays. You get great Fries with the lunch . The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I couldn’t imagine eating there. It could be a little cleaner and neater. It’s small and I would feel like an out of place office worker if I sat there and ate. But for a quick lunch to go , by super nice people, it hits the spot!!
Best hidden treasure in the Captial region. The food was so good. Worth the small time to wait. It's hidden in an office building. It's middle eastern food. I had a beef Ruben and my wife a Gyro. Even the fries were fabulous.Food: 5/5
I just returned from a trip to Egypt a week ago & was desperate to find a local place that served Koshari, Egypt national dish. After a Google search I found this place. I went yesterday and ordered the koshari, stuffed grape leaves & baklava. All of it was like I had in Egypt, along The Nile on our cruise. The owners were lovely, friendly people like all the Egyptians we encountered on our trip. I'm so happy there is a place locally to get my fix, but also to support such lovely people. You won't be disappointed with the food or service.
My husband and I had a very nice experience mid-morning on a weekday, when we popped in at the Bon Appetit Cafe to get takeout. We found it to be a little gem of a place, definitely off the beaten track. Upon entering the imposing office building at 80 Wolf Rd., you can follow your nose down a hallway on the main floor till you chance upon it. There, you'll find the food counter on one side of the smallish space, and an large variety of snacks on the opposite wall. There is a dining room, most likely used by office personnel during the lunch crunch, opposite the cafe. We were warmly welcomed by half of the friendly couple who run this unique establishment, who had introduced himself as Ayub; and, identified his wife, who had taken a moment from cooking to smile at us, as Nevin. The menu lists an extensive array of both deli items and Mediterranean/Egyptian fare; all reasonably priced some items downright cheap; and it was hard to know where to begin. We ordered several items to go, all found to be excellent and fresh, including an order of Koshari a nat'l dish of Egypt, a customized chicken salad sandwich which came with a side of macaroni salad, two chilis, two cookies, and best of all - the Mediterranean Sampler Platter, their most expensive item at $11.99. This had big pieces of the tastiest falafel you'll ever be served, several large stuffed grape leaves best I ever had, homemade hummus with pitas, and a delicious scoop of a feta-based mixture, and mixed salad. Nevin had gave us small pieces of the yummy falafel to taste; and Ayub had comfortably situated us in the dining area with delicious complimentary coffee, while we waited for the order to be completed. It was indeed a pleasure to go there, and experience such good food and wonderful hospitality. I'm looking forward to revisiting the cafe soon, and can hardly wait to have that sampler again!
You have to visit this place! I just had one of the best to-go lunches of my life here. I highly recommend the falafel platter. For $10, I got 4 giant falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, tahini, tzaziki, pita, and a salad with lots of veggies. Everything is homemade and incredible. And the owners could not be nicer. Can't wait to go back!
This is an interesting place. The owners are super friendly. The food is high quality and exotic. The eating area is an office cafeteria. Bonus: I ran into several office workers who who were super friendly. It was kind of like going back in time and patronizing Cheers.Food: 5/5
I walk over to Bon Appetit for lunch once a week. A terrific lunch from hardworking and friendly owners. The Chicken Feta is a favorite!
I don’t usually post reviews, but the food at this place is amazing. The owners are extremely friendly and care about their food. There is zero ambiance; some of the best food I’ve ever eaten was at “hole in the wall” restaurants so that doesn’t bother me. The falafel is the best I’ve ever had and I told the owner. She thanked me and, though I don’t go there often since I’m rarely in that part of Colonie, whenever she sees me walk in to order she hands me a small falafel to eat while I wait. They are SO GOOD…light, fluffy, and hot. My husband loves the gyros platter. Really, everything I’ve tried is great.
