MUST try! I live in California and eat high end sushi often but I have never had sushi like this before!!! The fish is so fresh it nearly melts in the mouth. Each bite was as amazing as the previous. The flavors are so outstanding it’s impossible to describe. Let’s put it this way, the food was so good I was sad when I was full! If you like sushi, if you love sushi, if you want to try sushi, if you thought you didn’t like sushi…come here!!! I can’t wait to return to Victoria just to eat here again! TLDR: Eat here, there’s no place better in North America.
Everything is tasty. I strongly recommend the spot prawn as it is so sweet and freshly. I arrived during lunch time and it was not busy. The waitress was very patient and checked on us a few times during our visit. I would say it was a bit pricey tho because it cost us roughly 100CAD but it was worth the price and service we got. You are able to see the staff preparing your food in the kitchen. They also would say goodbye to you when you leave.
Seated quickly with no wait about 6pm on a weekday. Cute and friendly servers working here. The menu using QR code was confusing, much easier looking at the paper menu which was huge. Some items were confusing and overwhelming so we settled on more familiar dishes since we were starving. Food was ok and some were interesting and unique. Some didn’t have much flavor too. Overall, worth a try especially if you are craving for sushi or Japanese food. Seemed to be a good value too.
Have heard a lot about this place, kept saving to come here for a special occasion. We were not disappointed as I think we have discovered the best Japanese Restaurant in Victoria. The decor is simple but tasteful. Great selection of drinks, and on a rainy night almost nothing better than hot Sake quickly followed by delicious Asahi drafts. Now, finally about the food. Presentation was great, but the freshness, texture and taste just blew us away. One main item that everyone normally overlooks in Sushi restaurant is sushi rice, and here I have lost my mind as from the first bite and all the way to the last I had an incredible feeling similar to eating delicious ikura. You can feel every grain in your mouth, they are pleasant and soft, taste just right, and almost burst when you bite on them. Never had it like that in the last 25 years of my sushi eating experience. Thank you Chefs! Pricing was good, adequate to the quality and amount of the dishes. What an experience, you are a Gem. Thank you, we will be back very soon!
This place is excellent. The food tastes excellent and was beautifully presented. Although there were a number of tables when we visited it must have been slow for orders at the moment we ordered because our sushi arrived less than five minutes after ordering. The venue does have limited choices for folks looking for meat or vegetarian options. Recognize sushi usually involves fish but it is always nice to have some options of chicken or a few different types of veggie rolls in case someone in your party is picky. That being said it is clear they are committed to making awesome sushi above all else.
In a cuisine that already is known for its quality and presentation Yuabistro still manages to stand out. Small touches like flower petals or crispy rice bits enhance flavours and textures. Pickled plums liven up sauces. All ingredients are placed with care to create a visual feast, on top of a culinary one. I visited 1 day before flying back home, and had to come again just before my flight to experience it once more. When the staff heard we were coming back, they even built little figures out of bowls much to the delight of my kids. This restaurant makes me want to return to Victoria sooner just to eat here again.
Atmosphere: Clean and pleasant inside. It looks much nicer on the inside than how it looks on the outside. Service: The service was welcoming and very helpful with the menu item questions. It wasn't busy at all, so the service was quick. Food: I ordered the veggie box. The portions from a glance looked quite small, but after almost finishing it, I realized it was more than enough food. I everything tasted fresh and was presented nicely. Miso soup actually tasted like it didn't come in a package. The highlight was the veggie rolls. I've never had a more unique tasting veggie roll before. I was very impressed with the flavours. Clearly, someone spent a lot of time coming up with some of these recipes. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. I haven't tried the other items on the menu, but I certainly will come back for more.
Had a fantastic dining experience with YuaBistro. The service was absolutely friendly and kind, and the decorations were perfect for taking photos with your friends. The food were definitely delicious, we ordered lunch special sashimi, the portions was fair, the sashimi was thick, but small. The tempura batter is too thick and the ingredients inside are relatively thin, I recommend eating it as soon as it is on the table. I love Aburi Futomaki that the basil sauce combines the flavors of other ingredients for a refreshing taste. I would highly recommend having dinner here instead of lunch, as the wagyu don and sashimi platter will only be served at dinner. I will definitely come back and try dinner as well.
Do you live or are you visiting Victoria, BC? Do you want some really good Japanese food? You should highly consider coming here. The food was fresh, nicely presented, and the service was wonderful. Here are some of my recommendations; the yaki soba best I have had as far as I can remember. The udon was a delight - the seafood was great, the noodles were Al dente, and the soup base was just right. Next, the aburi; my fav was the eggplant! It was perfectly made and wowed my palate. Then the salmon was second and the ebi third. Another dish that stood out was the agedashi tofu - the sauce was on point, the tofu was crispy on the outside and firm, yet soft, on the inside, which makes it a fav of mine there. Last, but not least, the beef tenderloin box was really good! The sushi was made with real crab so good, and the nigiri was superb both were really really good!. The beef tenderloin was just right, and the sashimi was really fresh! The chefs and kitchen know what they are doing and take great care in their work. As for service, the serving team were appropriately there to cater to our needs. They were polite and asked if we required anything. They also did it with a smile, which is always important. Thank you, Yua Bistro. When I am in Victoria, and want Japanese food, I know where straight to go! I give this a solid A grade, in my books! Also, for the price point, the quality is amazing. If you had something like this in Vancouver it would probably be at least $$$.
Went with my spouse and a friend, ordered 2 beef oju box and a tendon. The freshly fried tempura in the tendon was crispy, and the sauce was great. Good for children or adults. The oju box was very pretty and included different variety of food. Was a great dish to try out all the different menus at Yua.
