One of my work colleagues mentioned about this place and decided to check it out since I was in the area and needed a large meal to refuel for the long cycling home. The food hands down is amazing. The Japchae was delicious and the portion was huge. The fried chicken gizzards were a home run with large roasted garlic cloves which was a nice added touch. It would've been nice to down a bottle of soju to go with the chicken gizzards but the thought of riding my e-bike home under the influence doesn't seem like a hot idea. The server was sweet enough to get me a compostable takeout container so I could eat the rest in the comfort of my home. The ambiance and decorum is nice, kinda reminds me of a k-room karaoke feel with the disco lights and televisions blasting Blackpink, Twice, Red Velvet, Everglow, Mamamoo and EXID. Personally I'm more of a SNSD fan but that sort of sets my age by admitting that . Service was fine for the most part until the end when I needed to find someone ASAP to pay for the bill and leave. I'm sure they would've let me sit back and relax which normally would be fine as I don't like restaurants rushing one out with the bill while you're still eating but in this case I had to leave or else my bike would've been locked up inside of MEC. Also bummed that the complimentary water was warm which isn't so cool on a hot sweltering summer weekend. All in all, I was satisfied with the place and I will be back. Parking: Being in Trounce Alley, parking can be a bit tricky. Best suggestion is to use Yates St parkade and then walk over to the establishment.
Korean and japanese cuisine restaurant, wont say perfect but its decent set up and food is near to authentic. We tried Korean and japanese cuisines, and they were both very good. They did serve side dishes but kimchi was missing, upon asking they said its in menu, we can order if we wish to. The staff are very friendly and good service. Its quite busy during weekend.
Servers were great. Nice decors. Bulgogi and black bean ramens were tasty. Takoyaki was creamy. Gizzard side dish was good, too. Just one downside: seasood ramen was salty. I don't recommend this particular dish.Food: 4/5
What a fun find! I had read a number of bad reviews for this fun little place in Trounce Alley. Undeservedly so, I might add. We were a little overwhelmed with the substantial selection of menu items. Yes, pink black or black pink or whatever was playing pretty loudly and the lights were flashing pretty nightclubly probably not a word but, the food arrived very quickly, the service was decent, and it was very tasty! My dining partner had bibimbap and I had a huge bowl of ramen loaded with kimchi. We also decided to try the chicken wings and were delighted with him monstrous plate of chicken! Sure, it's getting a little expensive to have lunch out, but it was a fun experience that I didn't mind paying for.
We very nearly left because it took so long for any service after we were seated ?45-50 minutes. We were glad we ended up staying though - the food was delicious. I had the japchae, my husband had the spicy beef ramen stir-fry which was not a soup bowl but nonetheless very enjoyable and my son loved the potato chicken wings. The decor was interesting too. We would come back despite the ridiculous lack of serving staff the ones who were there were pleasant at least!
Decided to try this new resturant hidden in trance alley. Takoyaki was fresh with soft chunks of octopuses inside. The shaved fish flakes had a nice smoke flavour. The fried rice cake was chewy with sweet Korean chili sauce. Although it would of been nice if they used a dipping dish for more sauce. Main dish was the bulgogi beef ramen. Big portio with shitake mushrooms, cabbage, baby bokchoy and shaved beef. The broth was a sweet beef broth. Will try this place again maybe for lunch or try the farmers meal combo for dinner.
Hands down the best ramen in Victoria, for my fellow spicy-lovers. Finally, I found good ramen in this city! This is the Spicy Pork Ramen but they replaced the pork with chicken for me. We asked for extra spicy and they delivered! The broth is just so flavourful with small pieces of garlic and a nice but not overwhelming array of mushrooms/vegetables...just glorious! And such great quantity at a great price. A plus is that it's situated in the quaint, charming Trounce Alley and the servers are super nice. This place will be a regular!
Nice Korean/Japanese restaurant! I would go back to eat the garlic beef roll alone but everything we had was absolutely delicious! The yakisoba had tons of veggies and meat! The sushi was really well prepared! I would definitely come back to try their other dishes!
Amazing food, second time going in 2 weeks with the same friends but unfortunately the service is terrible…the first time we went there was multiple issues and I emailed the restaurant directly and they polity responded. Though, for the second time there was another odd occurrence with the bill. The waiter brought the bill to us after asking if we could get the bill split both times the same server has brought the receipt and the POS system to our table, he doesn’t give us the receipt but just the POS system with our amounts after we paid, it seemed like the amount wasn’t correct so we got the receipt and realized we were charged an extra dish which we didn’t get nor ordered. We brought this to their attention and the manager was also very confused why this was happening. We were given refunds, but this is the second time In a row we needed to get refunds from their mistake. The time before I ordered a beer, which didn’t receive it but was charged for it.
We had Oshi sushi which was very salty and had too much mayone. The hotpot from other tables looked good but we will never come back here again because of their terrible services. The servers didn't greet/ welcome us when we stepped in, we came before other people but got the table after them. Waitresses wasn't friendly, just took order, brought food, didn't say anything AT ALL then we just paid and left. They didn't even care, didn't ask how the food was or said thank you.
