Housekeeping was terrible. They did an excellent job cleaning the room IF/WHEN they actually cleaned our room, but the following will explain the issues we experienced: we had left the 'do not disturb' sign on several times during our 8 day stay in the morning. HOWEVER, we ALWAYS took it off by 10:15am or earlier and left the room for a couple hours, only to find our room was almost never cleaned. Some mornings the sign wasn't on at all, they would knock and I would ask them to give us just a few minutes for us to get ready and leave room They came back all of one day and never again. At one point we just called to get our garbage taken out because they decided not to clean our room for a few days in a row, then they called our room the morning before our last when we were sleeping - 'Do Not Disturb' sign on door - to tell us they had to come clean our room since it had been 3 days... YES! because housekeeping decided to ignore our room for 3 STRAIGHT DAYS!!! When they came that morning I spoke to a woman who was, I guess, head of housekeeping or something, and instead of apologizing or even taking the tiniest bit of accountability, she blamed us for leaving the 'Do Not Disturb' sign up, implying we left it up until noon. Which was completely FALSE. The latest we ever had it on was 10:15 for one day, otherwise it was taken down by 9-10 since we went down for breakfast anyway and then stayed away for an hour or two to give them time to clean, only to find our room unattended to repeatedly. I dont believe the customer is always right, but here, my partner and I both agree that the management must give their staff instruction to NEVER take accountability for their own mistakes. The only one really carrying them in the service department is the guy that works in the bar/lounge. Food is good here, too. And a couple of their front desk workers were good. Otherwise, housekeeping needs to get their act together! Also, we got a room with a fabulous view of their beautiful pool area.
So we had an issue with our room as they advertised HDTV online in amenities but the TV was old 480i AV hookup. The manager told me to leave a review complaining about issue rather then offering any sort of solution themselves. I went to ask them if that was really way to solve it as I could call corporate guest services and complain but I'd rather just solve it with her. She began to freak out at me and refused to speak to me until I would get my girlfriend as her name is on receipt for room and she threatened to kick me out. I was very polite and all I did was explain the issue. I have never had anyone react like this to me ever in my life in customer service, and it was crazy to me this was suppose to be a manager. She claimed I said she was not smart as I said I didn't think it was a complex issue. I just thought it would be a simple solution like a room with working TV or discount on room. But I wasn't insulting her intelligence I just didn't think it was overall that complex of an issue. I hope that they consider a new manager as I have never met an employee like this. I spent 4 days here when family member was in hospital. Not a new hotel, however it is well kept and the service crew keeps it spotless. The free breakfast is simple but it does the job, coffee is very good. The pool and hot tub were nice. Overall the experience was positive, beds are new and comfortable.
The room by the pool was really nice. Was able to sit outside my room poolside and read a book into the evening. Tables just outside the room were great for eating a pizza at supper time. The pool area is very cozy, not so commercial like, with lots of plants and atmosphere! Location is either good or not as good, depending on where you need to go in Winnipeg. It is a great hotel just to stay and chill in for a mini-holiday. If you are going to shop at St. Vital, this is a great location. I also like the pool because I am a wimp when it comes to cold pool temperatures but this pool is always warm enough for me to get in completely, which is saying a lot. It is also very good value for the money.
I enjoy my stay at this Travelodge location. I like the amenities the indoor pool - very nice atmosphere, the access to a balcony, or the outside if you are on the first floor, the restaurant, lounge, pool tables, VLT machines, and the free continental breakfast is always very good. I just wish they would have their ATM machines operating on a more regular basis, they seem to malfunction/run out of money fairly often. Overall, a great hotel to stay at.
