This is a good place to go to if you just want a quick basic sushi bite to have. It has been open for years and it still taste pretty much the same. They need to get the benches cleaned up as it seemed a little bit musty. The miso was good and tempura was fresh and very crunchy. Salad didn’t have that much of a good dressing and tempura sauce was lacking a little bit of flavor but overall can’t complain for the price of the bento box I got which was the veggie one can’t have raw fish currently because I’m pregnant $17 which included 20% tip and taxes. Staff was very polite and professional. I will come back again when I’m in the area for a quick fix.
First impression when we sat down with the menu, the restaurant smelled like a stuffy washroom. After we ordered, the fan and soft music came on so it was a little better. The miso soup and salad came first. Not a fan of the salad - it was room temperature did not feel like veggies were refrigerated and the dressing tasted like watered-down mayonnaise. The sushi we ordered came next. The rice on the rolls were mushy and fish was not fresh. I’m usually not a heavy soy sauce dipper, but I had to this time around to mask the taste. The server however was very friendly and nice. Update in response to owner’s reply: This is my honest review and my first impression of the restaurant. I don't know where to start... I waited over 90 minutes for my food. On the hour mark, I called the restaurant to see if my order was okay. The lady on the phone was quite rude and just told me to wait another 30 minutes. When the delivery guy finally called me, he didn't know how to come upstairs so I had to drop what I was doing to go down to pick up my delivery. After I finally got my food, I noticed it didn't come with the complementary rolls I saw on the Ad. My girlfriend and I began to count the food because we started to question a lot of things. Turned out we were missing a couple of pieces. This brings me to my last point... The sushi rice was still warm and were cut in uneven pieces. I wish i could attach a photo. To be honest the quality of the sushi was disappointing. I spent a total of $88.00 for sushi that is comparable to a buffet's. At the end of the day, I will NOT be ordering from this restaurant again nor will I recommend any of my friends/family.
We ordered delivery and the food took over 1 hour and when we received our food, it was the absolute worst. We purchased a medium 40 piece party tray of sushi and sashimi but when we got it, there were only 6 pieces of sashimi and the rest were rolls with mostly shrimp tempura. The chicken teriyaki serving was also super small, not even enough to fill a child. It had 4 small pieces of chicken and the rest was all rice. The tempura was cold and they missed the sauce. The salad was literally one piece of lettuce chopped up into fine pieces tossed with dressing. It was LESS than half a bite. We basically spent almost $70 for rice and fried shrimp. It was a joke. I thought it would be a nice change to order from this place because I always order from soyugun sushi and they only do pick up but I would never order from here even if they can deliver. I'd rather make the sacrifice and drive to soyugun to pick up the food. At least I know if I'm spending $70, I'll get a decent amount of food and be satisfied. We could have gone to all you can eat and still spent less money.
My co-worker usually go there for lunch ordering a sashimi set and the green dragon roll since they are so close to our workplace. About three four kinds of fish in that set, not too fancy, but always nice and fresh, perfect for a simple lunch for a job break. if we got extra time , like to get their green dragon roll,so tasty, love it!
Place is a bit dated and doesn't seem to have a good cleaning in awhile. Food presentation was decent but, type of rice used for the sushi was unusual. I also observed the cooking wear used and it seems like it's suppose to be non stick woks but, the non stick coating is long gone off the wok. Sort of disappointed and, lack of care for a la carte sushi place.
Took a chance on this place as Syogun used to be my favourite spot and was very pleasantly surprised! Quaint and cozy spot with individual booths that add to privacy. Looks like it's family owned and the service is very good. Attentive to all requests and food was delivered to our table within a few minutes and is tasty!
Come here on Fri. night, six of us oedered their sushi 70pcs party tray, love it! Every sushi pieces are so fresh. the sushi rice is very tender with the crispy tempura bits in them, perfect match! The shrimp tempura used in their dynamite roll was newly deep fried which made the sushi roll fresh and tasty. Two thumbs up for their nigiri pieces, salmon and maguro tuna were our favorate. Everything were so fresh, will definetly come back!
In terms of food, it was delicious! the pork chop was juicy and flavorable, i would totally recommend. But, the renovation is very poor and not very comftorable in terms of seating, not recommend if you want a sushi meal for alot of people, overall restaurant was somewhat dirty, food was good and price was reasonable. Service is good, the lady that owns the place was very welcoming and nice.
We ordered sushi and sashimi combo 45 pieces for 40 bucks. We expecting sushi is nigiri not sushi roll. I bought this to your attention but you seem to short change us for what we ordered We are not happy with the way your present the menu and kind of misleading. Sushi mean nigiri ans not sushi rolls. Sushi roll is sushi roll. We been here so many times and this time very disappointed.
