This is one of my favourite spots to get Donkatsu. For starters, the servers there are all very friendly. When we asked for recommendations, the waitress would pick out 2-3 dishes and explain what was in each one which helped my family and I narrow down what we wanted. I decided to stick to a classic: the curry pork Donkatsu while my sister got the cheese bomb Donkatsu. The wait for food was a tad slow, but it was well worth the wait. I was expecting more rice than the meat itself, but was surprised when that wasn’t the case. Very happy there. The pork chop was very crisp and was not cooked too dry. In addition, the pork chops were not greasy whatsoever. The curry sauce itself was also very delicious. For the cheese bomb, it was also quite good, but the only complaint from my sister was that maybe it was too much cheese to her liking. If you love cheese, the cheese bomb Donkatsu is the one for you, but if you’re not a big fan of cheese like me, it’s better to stick to the original Donkatsu or the curry Donkatsu. Overall, this is one the best spots to get Donkatsu.
Have been coming in for couple years now for Donkatsu and I must say, it was always been an outstanding experience from start to finish. The restaurant is located in a prime spot, making it easily accessible, and the atmosphere is warm, cozy and inviting. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly staff who quickly prepared a table for us. The menu had a wide selection of options, making it hard to choose what to order. In the end, I went with their Everything Set A with pork cutlet, and I was blown away by the quality and flavor of the food. The pork katsu was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the fish was perfectly flaky and not dry. What impressed me the most was the attention to detail in every aspect of the dining experience. From the presentation of the dishes to the quality of the ingredients, it was evident that the restaurant takes pride in what they do. The decor was simple, yet elegant, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Overall, I had an amazing time at Brown Donkatsu and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious katsu dining experience in the area. The prices were reasonable, the portions were generous, and the quality of the food was exceptional. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu items.
We came around 7:30 pm and had to be put in a waiting list where they would call us when a table would be ready. They are super popular so we waited for an hour to be seated. This was the first time I have been here. The service was fast, and the staff were super friendly and nice . The food came out pretty quickly, and the portion sizes were huge, and the prices are very fair. 3 out of 5 of us were only able to finish half our dish. The food was amazing, might have been the best Katsu I have ever had. The Katsu was so crispy! I would definitely go back, it was worth the wait.
Staff was very friendly. Service didn't take too long. Wasn't that expensive and food was very filling as well. Portions were huge as you can tell from the photos. I ordered spice level 2, was a bit too spicy for me so I'd recommend people try level 1 unless they are accustomed to spicier East Asian food. Served tea to everyone for free which was also a big plus. Will definitely come by again if I am in the area and craving fried chicken.
Tasty pork cutlets that are crisply and juicy! The portions are huge in my opinion and the katsu sauce is really good. The service is friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend to others to try. I also believe this location is the best in terms of food and service.
Excellent donkatsu place! We drove 1 hour to this location and arrived just when they opened. This place gets busy fast! We had pork, shrimp, curry pork, and cheese. All were 5 out of 5. I wish curry was a spicier it is mild Japanese style.. however, I didn't ask if they have hot version. They do have some spicier version which I did not try. Original sauce can start to taste a bit sweeter after halfway through but overall very delicious. Big portion, great friendly service Markham location!
What a difference 10 km makes! We started off with the grilled corn cheese. That was pretty good because it wasn’t fried in that oil although you can’t really screw up corn and cheese. We then ordered the everything set 2. Everything had this weird oil aftertaste. The shrimps were halved length-wise; so you really only get one and a half shrimps. The breading was so thick. The fish was tasteless. The pork was super small. The sauce was even watered down. The only thing that was “good” was the rice. We left feeling completely unsatisfied and went into the food court for other food. This isn’t our first time eating at Brown Donkatsu. We have been to the one on Yonge street. The food quality is there is so much better. I would recommend driving the extra 10km to yonge street and get a properly done katsu at the other location.
My new favourite katsu spot in markham! Reasonably priced katsu with tons of flavour and generous portions. They have a good selection of ramen as well I got the king ramen which was delicious and spicy. Staff is friendly and polite, and everything is cooked and served with care. Will definitely be returning for more
The food was good here; I wouldn't say it's amazing or something we'd crave all the time, but I'd go back again if in the area. They have a decent selection of ramen and katsu dishes, including sizzling plates, and everything was cooked well. The staff were friendly, but the place is small, so during busy hours, it's hard to get a seat, especially if you have a bigger group. The food came quickly though, so if it's usually like that, then the turnover time likely isn't too bad.
The taste of the deep fried chicken and shrimp are good, but the rice size is too less. Don't eat ramen here. I think the instant noodles is better. The waiting time for the food is long. Please be patient.
