This by far the worst restaurant in downtown of Kingston. We ordered food and were waiting for almost an hour. It was also freezing inside and we asked for our food several times, they said as you asked for well-done it takes some time. When they brought the food it was BURNT, and the lady was insisting that it is not burnt it due the seasoning, it tasted sooo bitter and the manager agreed that it was burnt. Look at the photo of the plate. NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.
Food was good , servers were cute and friendly but cooks were lazy burger came with a sticker on my tomato on the burger and for a 22 dollar burger probably should have made sure it wasnt , it was just cut through so someone else also got sticker also im guessing .
I'm from out of town, so I'm not sure how this restaurant compares to others in Kingston, but the Rustic Spud is pretty bland and not a 4.4 rating on my books. I went for lunch, and while the service and seating were warm and comfortable, the food was pretty bad for the price. Everything was under-seasoned, amateurish almost, except this "potato cake" which must have had 3 cloves of garlic for this shaped mashed potato dish to taste like garlic paste. I could go on, but there have to be better restaurants around, so only come here if you want drinks, and the neighbouring joints are full.
Friendly staff. Food was ok - I've been here twice before but this time I was a little disappointed. The drinks and appetizers came quickly but the mains seemed to take longer than usual. I had fish tacos. They were luke warm and the fish was a little dry. I've had this dish before and my experience was the opposite. My drink was great. The hostess and our server were very friendly and tended to our group's requests immediately. Everyone else felt the same - food not as good as usual but the service was.
Staff were above and beyond amazing. Hubby stopped for a beer while I got my nails done and we ended with 4 beers, 2 glasses of wine and some appetizers. Staff were Kind, friendly and knowledgeable about the area which is nice for a tourist like myself. Food was amazing. Will absolutely visit again.
Want to start by saying the service was amazing and an easy 10/10. The food itself wasn't great. Started with the Artichoke Dip - it's not mentioned on the menu but it was HEAVILY infused with garlic. Wasn't bad but also wasn't great. They served it with dripping wet / soggy flatbread that couldn't even scoop up the dip because it was so saturated with oil. We both got the "Smash Burger" - it's not actually a smash burger. It's just a THICK 7oz patty, so the menu was misleading. The burger itself was somehow simultaneously dry and pink. Flavour was bland and really just overpowering garlic, similar to the artichoke dip. The food wasn't bad by any means - just bland and somewhat below average with an above average price.
My family and I had a delicious meal with great service. Our server had excellent menu suggestions saganaki cheese appetizer that did not disappoint, and the drinks were just as on par and very creative....loved my ‘smoking’ margarita. The cheesecake for dessert was a great finale!
Went here for date night last week, great local beers on tap. We had the bruschetta to start & it was tasty. I enjoyed the 3 different styles & that it came on flatbread. Definitely no skimping on the goat cheese. It was delicious! I had the sausage pasta for my main & the sauce was really good, but the sausage itself was a big disappointing. A bit chewy & not very flavourful. My friend had the short ribs & they were incredible. Melted right in your mouth. We'll definitely be back.
I was kind of disappointed, that they didn’t have the potato that I seen in a lot of the pictures. I booked my reservation there for the 4 of us based on that spiral potato. The service & food otherwise were pretty good except for the cream of mushroom soup which was very salty, and it was a little bit lumpy as though it had just come out of a can and it didn’t get properly dissolved. Overall it’s a pretty decent place.
The Rustic Spud hosted a surprise birthday party for my wife in June 2022. Food prepared by main chef Gavin, along with Chris and Breann was amazing! Entire event was organized by Ashley and run with the help of Miles, Dominic and Dan. All guests had a great time and enjoyed the evening. Can't thank the Rustic Spud enough for such a memorable event. Thanks again!
