Everything was great. Beautiful presentation and great flavours. Definitely hit the spot for a light dessert. The pillows did come smaller than they appear in photos online. But still tasted great.
Satisfied my Chinese dessert craving! Better than expected. The mango pieces are so sweet and chunky. I didn’t expect to eat sweet mango because the mango is not in season have been disappointed at many places that serves sour ones. Takeout order only! Cash or debit the owner was kind enough to do etransfer for me cause my debit card didn’t work • 111 Matcha ice cream w/ mango, mochi, coconut jelly, red bean - ice cream was firm and not melted even after bringing it home after 30mins - the mochi balls are firm and chewy, it’s plain and great to eat together with the other sweet elements • 98 Grass Jelly w/ Mango Pomelo & Sago - the mango chunks are big and sweet - grass jelly is not like the ones you drink in bbt. It’s more like firm cubes. • 30 Mango pancake - again the mango is large, the crepe is alright, it might need some more cream filling • 136 black glutinous rice w/ coconut milk - personal all time favourite. They serve this in hot/cold. I got hot and it’s so comforting
I love the black sesame filled tang yuans on it's own at this shoppe. The filling is generous and the proportion of the rice flour wrappung to the filling is just right. The Chinese desserts we've tried from there are also really delicious, though the tang yuans stand out for me. This is just a take out shoppe as of the date of this review; despite it being in the corner of an industrial plaza, it was still busy with locals calling ahead and picking up quickly. Call ahead if you don't want to wait in your car for your order! However, the turnaround isn't too bad - they are kind enough to bring it out to you too!
Sweet House Desserts Perfect for a late-night dessert when you want something sweet but not heavy. 7750 Birchmount Rd #6, Markham, ON L6G 1C4 111 Matcha Ice Cream with Mango, Mochi, Coconut, Jelly, and Red Bean $9.99 CAD 10/10 Love that the mochi was still warm yet the ice cream didn't completely melt during the 10 minute car ride after picking it up. 36 Mango Sago with Coconut Jelly $8.99 CAD 9/10 Pretty standard mango sago. It was delicious but overpriced for what it is, although you get nice big chunks of mango which is nice. I found the coconut jelly to be perfumy but others seem to enjoy it so YMMV. 98 Grass Jelly with Mango, Pomelo, and Sago $8.99 CAD 10/10 Same comment above. It's standard mango sago but with grass jelly. The jelly was firm but also smooth which was nice. Overall, I'm grateful for the oddly late hours of operation at Sweet House Desserts. While other businesses are closed, I can still get my dose of Hong Kong desserts. Their menu seems long but they're just variations of the same base so you can't go wrong with any option. As summer comes to an end, I'm looking forward to trying some of their hotter menu items.
This is a great little dessert spot that's a mom and pop shop. We got Pomelo with mango sago and purple glutinous rice, red bean , palm seed slices, and coconut milk. It's very delicious loaded with fresh ingredients. If you're in the area, this is the place to go for hong kong style dessert, but it's take out only. Don't bother going to the dessert place by the McDonald's just north. You'll get twice the dessert for roughly the same price.
Had the herbal jelly/red bean/mochi with coconut and the mango pancake. Did not find the herbal jelly good. The jelly was firm, the mochi was not soft and it tasted plain. Portion size was mediocre, a bit on the small. The taste/flavor with coconut was not bad at least. The mango pancake was good but if the skin was softer it would have been great. Mango was ripe/soft and sweet. Overall for the price, I find is soso. Also TAKE OUT only and cash/debit. Order in ADVANCE for pick up or wait a good 15 min.
Came here on a Saturday night and got seated around 8:30pm. Waited a few minutes before we got our menus and hot tea. We were a group of 4, and ordered 2 tofu desserts and 2 milkshakes. Sounds like a simple order, right? Ended up waiting around 40 minutes for the tofu desserts, then another 5 minutes on top of that for the drinks. Seems ridiculous to me that it would take 45 MINS to make a milk shake. Thankfully the portions were big, and no complaints on the quality of the desserts. They don't separate bills, so be prepared to have one person pay for the table, with a 10% service charge added automatically. I went up to pay and the staff barely acknowledged me or said thank you.
I have ordered take out a few times here already and they never disappoint! I always get the mango pancake and the mango/sago/pomelo dessert. The mangos are really sweet and fresh! Their servings are big tooA mango pancake order is about 1 mango
Had to come back to my favourite dessert spot. This time we already had a massive lunch so we weren't so hungry. However, we still had to try the snacks and hot food in addition to fulfilling our sweets craving. Definitely try the baked spaghetti with cheese and bbq pork rice. Not too sweet or salty. Even the rice in tomato sauce was delicious. You also won't go wrong with the mango sago!
Small family run dessert place. Good selection of durian desserts if it’s something you enjoy. Grass jelly selections are good too. The tofu however isn’t as authentic. Overall, still worth a try.
