I stopped in here on my way to a reservation later in the evening for a cocktail and light bite. The restaurant was relatively empty, as it's not exactly in the main tourist area; but, the shrimp cocktail and cocktails were on point. This steakhouse provides a clean and slick atmosphere while still feeling like a steak house. The bartender, Oscar, was fantastic. He made me a blackberry mint cocktail. I'm not actually sure what it is because I just asked him to come up with something. It was delicious and very easy to drink. The shrimp cocktail on the other hand were the best I've ever had. They clearly picked out the best shrimp. They were so perfectly prepared that when served they were served with shells fully removed and the tail meat still attached. The shrimp were basically mini lobsters and the home made cocktail sauce and horseradish were out of this world. If you have the chance to pop in this place is definitely worth at least a stop! Vegetarian options: Like most steak houses there are some vegetarian options, but I wouldn't suggest this as a spot for vegetarians only. This is a steak house after all. Wheelchair accessibility: There are ramps and this is on the ground floor. There are some steps between parts of the restaurant to my recollection, but alternative paths are available. Dietary restrictions: Like most steak houses they have various options that support most dietary needs. Seafood, red meats, white meats, gluten free options, dairy free, etc.
By far the best experience at a restaurant I’ve ever had. From every detail…Steak 48 has fine tuned the dining experience. The warm atmosphere and ambience radiates from here. Their wine selection is one of the most extensive I have ever seen. The flavor profiles are unique and dishes come out tasting as good as imagined. Highly satisfied that Steak 48 gave me and my wife an amazing experience we will never forget.
Steak 48 is THE BEST restaurant I’ve been to in Chicago. I’ve been to several fine dining establishments in this city, but this venue really set the tone for a true upscale experience. The food, drinks, ambience, and service were all TOP TIER! I was immensely satisfied with my meal. For dinner, I had the Stone Fruit cocktail, Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs, Lake Superior White Fish + Alaskan King Crab, Chef au Gratin Potatoes, and the Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake. I did a happy food dance the entire night. I was thrilled to have leftovers and have a repeat of my evening the following day! I seriously cannot wait to return and try all different things! Definitely a must visit! You have to!
Myself and my significant other went to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, the staff was very welcoming, kind and professional. The food was timely but left a little to be desired... I would come back to try other items on the menu. The appetizer and dessert was delicious, and drinks were strong, but the main course was just above okay.
The praline mashed sweet potato was the best dish we had here. It was unique blend of nuts, vanilla and the creaminess of the sweet potato. We had the bone-in rib eye and it was good, but I wouldn’t say it’s amazing. I asked for salt and pepper for the steak, the server brought me pre-grind salt and pepper and they kept filling my sparkling water with still water I had a good time here but it definitely can be better.
John went above and beyond and made our first time here definitely not our last! Felt welcomed from the start and couldn’t have asked for better service! Food is beyond amazing and hands down best steak I’ve had in Chicago! Don’t sleep on the butchers cut recommended by John well worth the $!! Made a special occasion one to definitely remember!
Steak 48 looks very cool when you walk in. There are decorative layouts off butcher knifes in the entrance way. It looks so dark and sexy. The service was excellent. Our server was amazing! Zsolt was great! I recommend trying this place if you haven't been before. Another thing I want to add about my experience in reference to claims of racism. Now I've heard about racist situations that people have said they experienced and I also have read the reviews online about other people's experiences. I'm a Black woman and I have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times. I never experienced anything that made me feel like I was being discriminated against for my race or anything like that. It hasn't happened to me. For those others who had negative experiences that is most certainly too bad. If it was me I wouldn't come back either. However, from my experiences I would come back. I have always been treated exceptionally well.
Birthday dinner and selected Steak 48 out of many some we have eaten at many times. First time here and will not be the last. Service and food outstanding. Water and dinner rolls served while we looked over the extensive drink and food menus. Drinks served and food ordered. Explained we would like share the 22 oz bone in rib eye and Server Douglas said he would cut it in half for us. Steaks are cooked at 1500 degrees and severed on 500 degree plates. Warned us not touch plates as very hot. Ordered steak cooked medium rare and was done to perfection. Au gratin potatoes were the best. Oh,the birthday cake was unexpected and was so very good that I even finished it after that wonderful dinner. All the staff was very friendly and professional with special acknowledgment to Douglas.
Highly recommend this place if visiting Chicago! The food was absolutely delicious that I'm looking forward to visiting again someday. I had the lamb chops with lobster as well as a side of the corn creme brulee. This was hands down the best lamb chops I've ever had in my life. Ask for Vinny if you decide to dine here, he was definitely a bonus with his exceptional service that he provided.
This was my first time visiting Steak 48 and they didn't disappoint. From the time we walked to the door to the time we were seated, we were greeted respectfully and cordially. Our waitress Allie was very nice and knowledgeable which made ordering very easy. We were also greeted at our table from one of the managers Katrina Johnson who asked about our experience. And now to the food I ordered pork chops and my cousin ordered ribeye steak which was absolutely delicious. When I made reservations via Open Table I advised that we will be celebrating a birthday and the restaurant had a greeting card waiting for me. I highly recommend making reservations for Steak 48 and tell them Constance recommended it. Enjoy!!!
