The best Italian food I’ve had in awhile! Amazing ambiance and everything we ate was so delicious!! The staff was super helpful with pointing out the best things to eat. Had an amazing cocktails and didn’t feel rushed. Def will be back! Get the cheesy garlic bread and meatballs, they are undisputed.Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
This is my first review I’ve ever made and I just had to say this was the best food I’ve ever had!! The vibes of the restaurant is so so cute and moody it’s amazing, I got the vodka pasta and I will dream about it for the rest of my life, we also got the garlic bread. Everything was so amazing! Highly recommend the vodka pasta I wanted to take home the sauce. Amazing
Great downtown location. The place is always busy and even with reservations expect to wait a little once you check in. We had drinks here once before at the bar and this Saturday we came in for dinner. I had gnocchi and my wife had a shrimp scampi pasta dish. I was disappointed about the quality of either one of these dishes. The presentation of specialty cocktails in standard thick wall glasses was average at best. The desert, tiramisu was delicious which is why I am adding an extra star to the review. The bathrooms in this restaurant are not very clean which is why we will not be coming back. On the Saturday night we were there paper towels were all over the bathroom floor. One of these papers got stock to the bottom of my shoes. Luckily, I looked down and realized what happened before getting back to the table.
Caught an early dinner here last weekend and I was not disappointed. Great atmosphere. Really appreciated the appropriate music playing - fitting music makes big difference. Garlic bread was something completely different than what I was used to. Bolognese gnocchi was delicious. Only complaint would be the calamari, I prefer it a little crispier.
Nice restaurant with a great location in the downtown area. The food was great with the perfect size and taste. We tried different plates and definitely the lasagna was the best! The servers were nice and polite. I think that maybe the only thing missing here is a good piece of bread at the beginning of the meal.
We LOVE Il Porcellino!!!! It’s lovely inside with gorgeous lighting, old school Italian restaurant feel. They always have oldies playing and we have they best time! As a vegetarian and pescatarian they have tons of options for us. The Tuscan cheese bread is the best cheese bread I’ve ever had. The Italian salad is fantastic with fennel and veggies. I am obsessed with their eggplant parm. It’s massive! The marinara is robust and flavorful, the eggplant is crispy and well seasoned. So perfect! The vodka sauce is delicious! The spicy shrimp pasta is actually spicy and really great! Our meat eating friends always rave about their dishes as well. We always take friends here when they visit because it’s just wonderful food and a really fun time! Love this place!!
They definitely deserve 5 stars. We didn’t have a reservation but they were so kind to get us in. Service was fast. Food was delicious. Their mushrooms were epic, I would love to know how they make it.
I came here for my birthday last year 2021 with my out-of-town family and we all really enjoyed it. They even brought out our dessert with a candle on it. So I took my friend who was visiting here, since she had been complaining how disappointing the food & experience in Chicago had been. We didn’t make a reservation & did not have the best experience with the wait. Anyway, we got seated after ~45 minutes and ordered our food. We got Orecchiette, Spicy Scampi, Spaghetti, and Tiramisu. I liked the food and I was really satisfied and as for my friend, she thought it was okay but better than the other places we had been to! I really liked the lights & decoration inside the restaurant. The lighting was dark inside and the noise level was quite loud; nevertheless, I had a great time with my friend and we both enjoyed the ambiance.
One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been. The food is just insanely delicious. We ordered the garlic bread and spicy calamari as starters and boy, were they delicious! Not only is their pasta amazing, the tiramisu was just excellent! A must try when you’re in town. Very busy at dinner time so be sure to mark a reservation.
Il Porcellino is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. It’s located just off Michigan Ave and is in walking distance of all the main attractions. This past time at Il Porcellino, we got calamari as our appetizer. It was fantastic! It was fresh, not too fried and out quickly. My dining companion got ORECCHIETTE and she loved it! I got the ROASTED CHICKEN PENNE. There was plenty of chicken and the creamy sauce was very tasty. I had enough for lunch the next day. The restaurant itself is very cute and well decorated. The waitstaff was wonderful and helpful. Overall, if you’re in Chicago, this is a must try!!
