We've been coming here for the past year after moving to East York, and let me tell you... the produce is super fresh, the pastries are delicious and our highlight is when certain employees are working.nCouldn't speak more highly of Janet, one of the cashiers.nWe're both from a customer service background so when we find someone at a cafe/restaurant/shop that radiates positive energy, we tend to gravitate towards them!nShe is so happy and positive every time we come in, gets to know all of the customers and she works so hard.nnThis cashier deserves some type or raise or promotion because shes so hard working and dedicated to the success of the company and the satisfaction of the customers!nnWe're moving from the area, but we couldn't leave without leaving a review to really show gratitude for her hard work!
Beware, they profile you.nnI have seen them profile people of different colors, including white folks, depending on whether a person looks a bit less than perfect.nnUse to be a good place for shopping. I understand theft has gone up, and it is unfortunate, but I know when I am being profiled, and I have sensed that only a few times in my life, and this was one of them.nnI was there with a backpack as I was going home from work and i am very tired, I get to my packpack to get my reusable bags out as i had a bunch in there, so I can actually put stuff in them and hold them. I am still fixing my packback as zipper was not closing properly, I see the security guard coming and checking out what i am doing, and I am in the far end corner of the store, and there is no way the guard casually goes to that area unless there is something of interest. I have never seen that in the several years I shopped here.nnI shopped here for 5 years. It is over. I am moving on.nn4 points for the shopping experience over the years, -1 point for getting profiled. nnP.s. Used to be 24 hours, good old days.
They are selling their chicken and beef close to expiry date. Unfortunately I am using this market a lot because I am local. Usually it is expiring same day. Because i know this situation, i am always checking the best before dates. However, my sister didn’t check yesterday and the chicken the she bought is expired today. What a shame, one of the most expensive market in country but look at the service that they provide. DO BETTER SOBEYS
Sometimes I go here because Sobeys has a different and sometimes better selection than say ‘No frill’s. Also meat cuts are generally better. Staff are generally friendly. Parking is easy and plentiful. Store is clean. So I would say it’s a good grocery store overall. However I bought roses on Valentine’s Day, where the bulbs hadn’t opened yet. So I thought that meant fresh… Cost about $23. I even cut the stems to make sure they were getting water properly. Never opened. They were dying the day I bought them. The yellow tulips in the pic are from Nofrills and bought a week before. And they are still going strong. They cost $5. So… if you are desperate for flowers and you find yourself at Sobeys…. Buy Chocolate!
Me and my wife brought this Vietnamese young coconut on Sunday from this place and cut it open on Wednesday after stored in refrigerator . The coconut came out in dark purple colour and the water tasted very bad and spoiled . There was no expiry date mentioned on the coconut.nnThis is the first time in Canada , that we experienced a situation like this. We are not going back to the store again .
