Overpriced store with bad quality produce and not accurate pricing. Lots of items have wrong pricetags.Avoid at all costs.

Synopsis: meats often smell funny, no self checkouts.nnMeats:nWe shop at this Sobeys frequently. About half the time we buy meat from Sobeys usually chicken and ground beef, it starts to smell off the very next day. Usually it is still well within the expiry date. And, very rarely, the meat already smells funny the day of. We haven’t gotten sick from it, but it doesn’t quite put us in a *fresh* mood when we open the package to cook it.nnNo self checkouts:nAll checkout lanes are manual. Staff are always pleasant and helpful, but it would be great to also have a self checkout option as well, especially on days when I am buying very few things. Perhaps this can be resolved by the express lane items limit being enforced, but currently the express lane often has people with full baskets of items, so it’s not so express after all nnAlso they don’t have pie shells.

Please like and follow.nI start with the parking lot that I love.nThe store itself is large and big.nGood produce and they have some big sales on some items. The store has a good ready food section and a great bakery with a good selection of cakes .nMaily human cashiers who are very friendly and welcoming.

The service is better now that the ‘old guard’ of rude and surly cashiers have been replaced with new, polite and efficient cashiers.nWith the exception of Channa, she makes a point in engaging in suddenconversations with other cashiers while she pointedly ignores a customer who has to wait for her important conversation to end…. sometimes 3 or 4 minutes.nIt’s ’thinly Disguised contempt.’nI bought ground beef on sale, the best before date was 3 or 4 days past the date of purchase.nWhen it went bad the next day she accused me of ‘not refrigerating it’ and said that she ‘always freezes her ground beef right away.’nAnd perhaps most ignorant of all that ‘they throw the ground beef away every night.’ Treating me as though I was a criminal because I wanted to replace the ground beef.nI have better things to do than to have to go all the way over to Sobey’s because something went bad before it was supposed to.nI was asking for a replacement, not a refund and how about treating me decently?nI didn’t want to create a conflict by telling her that the beef would be relocated to a walk in fridge.nAm always extremely polite.nIf I interrupt their conversation about eg ‘loaning a book to other staff, it’s really good,’ she speaks over me and insists on continuing her conversation, accompanied by ‘the side eye.’nShe is extremely rude!nAll of the other staff are exceptional!nHopefully this will be addressed, it makes shopping at Sobey’s an unpleasant experience.nI specifically avoid her lane, even if it means waiting longer.nAm guessing most people don’t bother to complain or this wouldn’t be happening!

Neat and clean store, it gives you a family shopping experience. Staff is friendly and very caring. You will always find discounts.
