Loblaws Lower Jarvis Street

They advertise in their flyer, but don't sell boneless chicken breast by weight. Only Halal, which is fine to give that option, but a lot of people don't like the whole slitting animal throats while they're still alive thing. I have to imagine the majority of customers do not buy halal meat, so why is it the only option if you want to buy by weight? Even the deli staff couldn't make a package for the sale price. Really silly. Also the other review is 1000% right I've been in this store over 200 times and I have never, not ONCE got a basket at the front entrance. I actually saw a guy in a reflective jacket grab some baskets that were laying around after the check out area, stacked them and then shoved them under the fence next to the self checkouts, like where people who have finished put them and where no new customers can get them

I treat this place like my fridge so I am in several times a day sometimes.nn1 In the morning only is the only time you can get one of those hand carry baskets and the top of the the escalator on the 2nd floor entrance. There are lots of them in the store it's just that none of the staff EVER returns them from the self checkouts / staffed checkouts to the top of the escalator on the 2nd floor entrance. You have to walk into produce area/sushi area over to the checkouts/customer service are and grab one and then...walk back to where you came in to shop the produce/deli/bread area. And anyone who wants a handbasket has to do that. I see several people along with myself doing it and the staff see us their customer's doing it because they are there monitoring the self checkouts and at the customer service station. They clearly don't feel that is an issue to address except during one occasion in the morning when all the handbaskets are moved once to the top of the escalator on the 2nd floor entrance.nn2Was in there on 20 August 2024 and saw some guy who was clearly either homeless or close to it go to the hot/cold deli where you pick up to go food for $2.49 / 100 grams. $11.30 a pound, select a drink and go straight upstairs to the seating area to eat it without paying. After a year of stories about Loblaws thieving, $500 million settlement for bread price fixing and dropping the 50% off expired food for 25% off they were shamed into bringing it back, I was really super ok with that. Hope he comes back for dessert.

lol, they literally dont even care anymore. record profits? check. not enough staff? check. overpriced to the point of being beyond unethical and past evil? check. no one working check out? check.nnAt least the share holders are happy! right??? right??? This Loblaws, this company and the owner of this store are all pathetic and evil.

I walked in the rain , stood for 15 min at cash in line while the only staff was overheard saying her coworker disappeared to the washroom and must of got lost.nWhile waiting I watched employees walking over to the other side and get drinks.nConfused I waited, finally the coworker returns.nShe stands around then notices the screens not working on her till and says to me to order with the app.nI DO NOT HAVE THIS APP , I don't want it. I was intending on paying cash.nAnother employee comes along and gets served.nI tell the employee that I have been standing, waiting for 15 min, why wouldn't anyone inform me about not serving the customers???nStaff seem to have no problems standing around talking to the staff while they prepare drinks for them.nI feel this is a big example of customer last , worst in class service.nWill not be back.

Trigger warning! Loblaws employee does Islamaphobia to customer asking for Halal yogurt product: I was at loblaws a few weeks ago and couldn’t reach the halal yogurt. As I do have a disability I had to find an employee to reach the halal yogurt for me. I searched a few isles towards the meat for an employee and I asked him if he could please reach the halal yogurt item. He immediately became aggressive and started making remarks that he doesn’t know what halal is so I said the plain yogurt. He said he didn’t understand and asked me to show him. He walked infront of me to the dairy and when we got to the fridge he stood infront of the halal yogurt and began to point somewhere telling me to look some where “look look over there” he said pointing somewhere. I didn’t understand what he was pointing at so I just asked him kindly please pass me the halal yogurt and he immediately started making Islamaphobic, racial and threatening remarks and became verbally abusive using extreme derogatory language pertaining to halal food and Islam and was intending to get physical with me. He said he didn’t work there but he was wearing loblaws uniform and his manager garret told me he does work there. I took out my camera and began to record him yelling and getting too close to me physically and asked him to leave me alone. He said he will call his manager I said great and I will call the police. His manager garret and another assistant manager and lp watched him continue to yell at me and did not de escalate him in his psychosis meanwhile I remained calm and told them what had just happened. He still yelled at me and I had to call the police and they are investigating this as a hate crime. Garret finally got the halal yogurt for me! Also I escalated this to loblaws management head office and they haven’t responded to the incident in a professional manner. The unprofessionalism from some front line employees like him and the management is severely disgusting. They treat people who don’t look like them or eat the same food as them badly. If you are a BIPOC PERSON, practising Islam or any religion and you stand against discrimination please take your hard earned money some where else! It’s truly evil the behaviour I have witnessed. The male employee this took place with is a Latino man in his 40’s he is abt 5 foot 7 wears reading glasses, has sparce patchy facial hairs and has the temper of a rabies infected chihuahua. Police and lawyer will be in touch loblaws! Absolutely disgusting behaviour! Shame on Lobalws! I want to upload the video of him yelling at me but I can only upload pics so I will update this with his photo soon so people are aware of that sick disgusting criminal! This photo here is garret on the right the manager, lp in the middle and assistant manager on the left all which did not once tell their beloved aggressive racist employee to stop harassing me. So shameful ! He’s super sketchy with tight pants
