I felt this place's menu was much closer to japanese cuisine, loved it, they have a la cart service and an all you can eat option for 40 cad where you order by serving and it's prepared at the moment, not buffet style, portions are good enough for you to try a bit of everything and share. Be careful when ordering cuz if you order too much, they charge you for the left overs. Taste is great, portions are good and service was excellent, nice drink menu as well. I'd go back every week to get my money worth of japanese food. They have sashimi, Nigri, maki, tepanyiaki, fried and grill seafood and snacks, noodles, great variety. Our server Cameron was awesome! Wheelchair accessibility: No steps or ramps needed, all flat and spacious.
Pretty large selection of items for the pricing; moderately priced compared to similar ayce in Vancouver usually $45+, especially considering the location of this restaurant. You do get what you pay for though; while food quality is decent, obviously don’t expect high end grade sashimi. I recommend getting sashimi over nigiri sushi’ though, since the rice is dry and/or undercooked. Rice fills you up unnecessarily too, so might as well save the space for some other items. Oyster motoyaki is a must try, but it was a little on the salty side. Grilled saba mackerel is another highlight. Waitresses are actually fairly attentive for an ayce place—frequently refilled water and asked if I needed to order more items without needing to flag them down. Overall would recommend if you’re looking to satisfy your sashimi/sushi cravings without breaking the bank.
We enjoyed this place , its the only ALL YOU CAN EAT in downtown Victoria . The quality here is more homemade style then shabusen in vancouver city . Lots of places to sit around the chairs are more wood chairs and some have cushions. They also got booths here . And sushi bar for seating and window tables . There is not much staff here so be patient . The restaurant location is in a bit of a low end area of downtown Victoria that kinda reminds me of mt pleasant /east van type in Vancouver city . FYI This restaurant also has a senior rate for buffet . We were happy with our dinner here we ordered the ALL YOU CAN EAT . I added the menu pictures to this post aswell including the drink menu. They got a very cutttteee fish tank . Its walkable to get here if your in a hotel nearby took us around a easy ten minutes to walk here . Vegetarian options: They got yam roll ,vegetarian roll and other good stuff Kid-friendliness: There are familys here Parking: There is parking outfront and around its in a little bit of a low end part of town id suggest parking out front of the restaurant other wise its mostly ok area . We didn't have a problem while walking through here but might not be for everyone comforts though.
All you can eat Japanese food. Food is pretty good for an all you can eat place and the food is made to order. Last call for food is at 9pm so make sure to give your self time.
Shiki is my favorite sushi place downtown Victoria hands down. Decent pricing and high quality food. The sushi chefs are elegant in their presentation. I would highly recommend shiki sushi!Food: 5/5
Japanese??? More like Japa-ease... If it wasn't for the spacious and relaxed ambience this restaurant would get one star. But I was looking for a restaurant, not a yoga studio. As someone who's Japanese when it comes to sushi two things must be right 1. Rice and 2. Sashimi. 1. The rice was hard and tacky, like the aftermath of a clumzy lover. This means that they did not have enough water while cooking the rice or, the cooked rice was sitting on heat for too long. I suspect the latter because the rice had a tan, like cooked weinner at a nudist beach. Earlier when the waitress asked if I wanted sesame oil on my rice, I thought something was wrong. Dear white rice eaters... sesame oil, butter and mayonnaise do not go on sushi rice. Sushi RICE vinegar is mixed in with sushi rice. I know, shocking but that's how the Japanese do. 2. The sashimi was all over the place. It was as contrary as Goldilocks but was never just right. Some of the fish was frozen. The octopus tasted fishy which means "off". Cuts of tuna were falling apart, a sign of a dull knife or being too rough. The salmon was okay. But the texture was off because of the angle of the knife while slicing. Okay quality salmon is everywhere on the west coast. Would I go back here. No. Should other people go here. Yeah sure. If you are someone who does't like raw fish, but prefer sushi that is more North American than traditional Japanese. Their menu seems to have options for those who may not be as adventurous or traveled.
Food was fantastic got the all you can eat menu Service was a little slow, was a bit of a wait between orders and there wasn't to many people in when we went Regardless so many delicious items on the menu and always want more
Great place for all you can eat sushi. The price is decent but depends on how much you eat.
This has been our 4th time eating at this establishment. We have done A La Carte menu and the Buffet. Rather disappointed with salty prices of fish, overdone rice for the rolls and water downed wasabi. This was from our 4th time having dinner tonight and don’t feel adding anymore would help this place. The photos were from the water downed wasabi and had to ask for wasabi not runny or altered. Very disappointing and realized that if you water down wasabi that the food would not be great and this proved true.
The waitress was amazing. We got to the restaurant 30 min before all you could eat was over , which she alerted us of. Recommended that we order everything right away and she brought it quickly. The food was good but the portions are small so it's hard to know how many plates to order. If you don't order enough the first time, you have a very long wait for more. When the place is full. Which it wasn't this visit so it was not an issue.
