It's a restaurant I'll definitely come back with friends again. It's not ballyhooed style but I can taste its persistence in classic, delicious Japanese cuisine in a concrete nice way - it's worth of money in such a hustle tourism place, with nice Asian smile and patient services. 5 stars!
Went for a big sushi dinner with two friends and their little one, who have just moved to town. Great spot, beautifully decorated. Prompt, personable server, joking with us and the wee one at our table! The appies came quick, and the sake poured easily and responsibly Sushi rolls were incredibly delicious! We will definitely be coming back for more! Kid-friendliness: We were able to bring the wee one in and park the stroller beside the table.
Could be like a Cheers. This place has a charm to it. Family run business that is trying to make their restaurant look like number one despite some fatigued looking seats. Nevertheless, the food is good and there are lots of places for a group to sit. And plenty to see.
I haven't given a restaurant such a low rating in a long long time but this just really was that bad. We ordered take out and as soon as we took a bite of everything we felt robbed and just wanted all our money back. This place is not cheap $8 for 5 dumplings. The "crispy" dumplings were actually horribly soggy, greasy and lacking any flavour. The panko cheese tasted like processed cheese. But the worst was the udon noodle with beef. zero flavour at all in the broth. Even my partner who eats EVERYTHING said it was awful and just tried to poor a bunch of salt and pepper into it to get any taste. And he observed that the noodles were overcooked. It hurts to pay this much to dine out and be so badly disgusted by the food you just spent a fortune on.
Not a bad sushi place but one that left me feeling just satisfied and wishing we had done something different. We did not try anything to crazy just wanted a light meal. Ambiance was decent, with booth and tables. Miso soup was best part, the sashimi was just ok. Was not a fan of The spicy tuna roll. It was thick and sauce forward and not spicy. Was like eating canned tuna and was not pleasant, probably the worst I have ever had. Still have it 3 stars as staff was nice and we had limited selection of menus. Oh the menu’s where in bad shape, so bad I almost did it want to flip it over. The table was also sticky. We will not go back.
Current prices shown online are misleading as prices have definitely increased. Miso soup isn't super salty which was good, but I would rate my meal 6.5/10 as I thought my chicken would be crispy, not grilled, but to each their preference. Customer service was great though
I'm glad they are back with their amazing bento box. Food quality and customer service was a top notch. Definitely will be back again with my family soon.
While visiting Vancouver island I stopped by Koto Sushi Izakaya. I came by around 8 pm on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was not busy. Upon entering the restaurant the dim lighting provides a nice ambience. I was seated in the front of the restaurant. Overall my experience here was ok. The sushi was good and the prices were not bad. The service good have been better as it seemed I had to wait for some time before I could order and for the food to come to my table. Other than this I would still come back next time I am in town.
Shards of hard clear plastic in my salmon roll. I thought it was glass at first, but when I examined it closer it is hard plastic. When I called them they offered to remake the roll, but I threw out the rest of my order and wouldn’t trust them. As if I am going back to a place that includes sharp hard plastic shards in their rolls.
Sashimi is fresh, it's so delicious every dish is so delicious!
