Great little shop & restaurant for all your Japanese cuisine needs! The grocery section has many ingredients and snacks/desserts that are hard to find in other grocery stores. The restaurant prepares great food fairly quickly and there's even a section of fresh sushi with so many options to choose from. Staff are so friendly, kind, and helpful!
I never been here before but I ordered a sushi tray delivered to me today. It was great that I was able to build my own tray and only pick what I want. The waiting time was reasonable and food were packed nicely. Sushi are good, a bit too much vinegar in the rice I think. I would come to the store one day for groceries.
Great little place that offers fresh made sushi, rice bowls and bento boxes. I've had their ramen, it was flavourful with excellent noodles. Their new new curry bowl items are really tasty and generously portioned. The Karaage Don is also an excellent lunch option. They're definitely under new management - lots of new faces and a much improved customer service experience. They also have a new expanded menu with more variations of each type of dish. Sakura has solidified it's place in my lunchtime rounds.
I moved to Victoria last year for school and everything was completely new to me. I had spent the previous four years in Vancouver, a city where I was familiar and comfortable. At first, Victoria felt like a "desert" to me. I was lonely and sad, and I constantly went back to Vancouver every weekend. Every time I had to come back to Victoria, I was blue. But one day, I discovered a cute Japanese restaurant and grocery called Sakura near my place. I decided to check it out, and I had the best Katsu I've ever tasted in Victoria. From then on, I ordered Katsu from Sakura almost every week. It was so delicious that I became genuinely addicted to it. Whenever I had to come back to Victoria, I felt happier than before because I knew that I would have Sakura's Katsu to look forward to. Sakura was more than just a restaurant, it helped me adjust to life in Victoria. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, the decor was beautifully decorated with traditional Japanese paintings. The staff was always patient and helpful and the owner was super nice too. The Katsu was made with the freshest ingredients and everything just taste amazing. I just graduated last month and this will be the last month I spent in Victoria. I just want to say that Sakura is an amazing place that brings people joy. Everyone should try their food. It's a perfect place to have a casual dinner with friends, family or even a date. I hope for the best for Sakura, and I will definitely miss it when I leave Victoria.
Very good place to have sushi. Service is very attentive and they are happy to accommodate your wishes. It's a simple place but very clean and the quality of sushi and complexity are rather high. Prices are moderate. The place contains the restaurant and a small store.
Its ok but not impressed. I keep trying and it keeps falling short. Chewy seaweed. $15 but mostly rice. To answer the question of the owner below, I have had an assortment of your sushi rolls both from the case and ordered fresh, over the last couple months.
Great service, super friendly & quick. The sushi is very tasty and freshly made to order. Picked up a couple items for my kitchen at home and all at a reasonable price.
Great place to grab quick sushi, chicken karage is great! Fantastic staff here as well.
Cute little Japanese grocer with a small selection of sushi available for take away. Has a decent selection.
Not only a really good selection of premade sushi and take out dishes, but also fresh sushi made to order. Their grocery section has great Japanese food items to take home and cook as well as frozen items like different types of fish. All in all, a great place.
